Colour has long played an important role in the gay community's expression of pride. In Victorian England, the colour greenwas associated with homosexuality. The colour purple, or lavender, became popularized as a symbol for pride in the late 1960s. And the pink triangle. Although it was first used in Nazi Germany to identify gay males in concentration camps, the pink triangle only received widespread use as a gay pop icon in the early 1980s. But the most colourful of our symbols is the Rainbow Flag, and its rainbow of colours red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple represents the diversity of the gay community. The colours of the rainbow are also the colours of the Chakra system where the colours stand for
RED - SEXUALITY
ORANGE - EMOTIONS
YELLOW - SELF WILL & POWER
GREEN - UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
BLUE - COMMUNICATION
PURPLE - INTUITION
I also work with an extra colour that lies between the Green ( Unconditinal Love at the heart ) and the Blue ( Communication that lies in the throat ) and it is Turquoise - the Breath of Life - that resides at the base of the throat. The first and last thing you will ever do in this life, is your first In Breath and then you last Death Breath.
