FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT UNDERSTAND - ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

It's time to say
'ENOUGH IS ENOUGH'
and that the bankers have got to pay

In America, the occupation of Wall Street -  as people from all over the country join together in resistance of the growing social and economic injustice which grips the country.

It's time that we too say, enough is enough. Bankers have got off scot-free whilst the people of this country are being punished for a crisis they did not create. Our National Health Service is facing privatisation, the most vulnerable in society are being cut off from support and unemployment is on the rise. Our government is doing everything in its power to maintain the status quo, ensuring that those at the top are unaffected whilst the people - YOU AND I -pay the price.

This page has been set up to start a movement led by all. It's time to organise and march on the London Stock Exchange to occupy the area. Do everything you can to spread the word. Share on Facebook, tweet with #OccupyLSX, blog, tell your friends, anything to get this moving.

This is the start of a collective, democratic, non-violent movement to resist and say in a loud and clear voice, enough is enough.

Please do not assume that becse this is about the American Banking  system,  it is any different here. The banks have screwed us all and are continuing to screw us all and steal monies for HUGE BONUSES while being the very cause of this credit crunch and the big bosses - we now hear on the TV news ( 28th oct 2011 ) have taken up to a 48% pay rise in the last year while the 'common folk' are being screwed financially.

THIS HAS GOT TO STOP

Occupy Wall Street is Fox News' worst nightmare, so they're doing everything they can to downplay this movement and distort its message. It's up to people like us to tell the real story. This amazingly powerful video—featuring Elizabeth Warren, no less—does exactly that. It's a must-see for everyone in America who's got any questions about what #OWS is really all about. Check it out, and share it with your friends on Facebook today.

Occupy London Stock Exchange

takes it to the City this Saturday

15th October 2011

* Londoners set to launch occupation in the heart of the city’s financial centre on Saturday 15th October, as part of a global movement for real democracy
* Supported by UK Uncut, the London-based Assembly of the Spanish 15M movement, the People’s Assemblies Network Global Day of Action and others, the movement aims to highlight the social and economic injustice in the UK and beyond.

As protests on Wall Street capture the imagination of the world, with people taking to the streets to hold the global financial system to task, a diverse group of Londoners is coming together to launch a peaceful occupation near the London Stock Exchange (LSX) at Paternoster Square.

In little over a week, the OccupyLSX Facebook page has already attracted more than 9000 followers with over 3500 confirmed attendees.

Laura Taylor, a supporter of OccupyLSX, asked: Why are we paying for a crisis the banks caused? More than a million people have lost their jobs and tens of thousands of homes have been repossessed, while small businesses are struggling to survive. Yet bankers continue to make billions in profit and pay themselves enormous bonuses, even after we bailed them out with £850bn.”

The occupation on Saturday will see assemblies, workshops and discussions being held as people come to participate in a real form of democracy. They will seek to challenge the power held by the financial sector and the system that regulates it, which are failing to operate in the interests of people across the UK.

OccupyLSX supporter Kai Wargalla explains: “This is a people-powered movement protesting against the increasing social and economic injustice in the UK. We want to stand with the 99% – the overwhelming majority who value people over profit. We want to make our voices heard against greed, corruption and for a democratic, just society. We stand in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street, protestors in Spain, Greece and the Middle East who started this movement. They have inspired people all over the world to step forward and make their voices heard – now.”

UK Uncut is supporting the occupation of the London Stock Exchange, calling on its members to join the protest. UK Uncut supporter Peter Hodgson said: “The success of the square occupations across Spain in calling for democracy and an end to austerity, alongside the rapid growth of the Wall Street occupation, has shown that this is what is needed in London and the UK. The government is ignoring its electorate as they impose these austerity measures.”

OccupyLSX intends to lead by example, putting real democracy in practice from the bottom up. Following the model pioneered in Spain earlier this year, decision making and action planing during the occupation will be administered by a General Assembly, open to the public. London’s first General Assembly was held on Westminster Bridge during UK Uncut’s “Block the Bridge, Block the Bill” demonstration on Sunday 9th October.

The occupation in London comes at the same time that hundreds of cities around the world are protesting under the banner of “United For Global Change” calling for true democracy. This is a movement that transcends political affiliation. It aims to open a dialogue on reforming finance and government so that each better serve and protect the interests and wellbeing of the 99%.

Comment from JB:

For too long, large organisations like IKEA and other multi national corporations have got away with paying no tax - yes that's right IKEA IS A CHARITY AND PAYS NO TAX while being one of the wealthiest charities on the planet and giving away one of the smallest contributions each year,  and this SUCKS.
Bankers who completely messed up - and we are now paying the price with a global credit crunch - are still claiming MASSIVE bonuses and where BILLIONS are paid to these incompetant staff members who have not 'taken risks' as they are not risking their own money - it is ours - and the global economy suffers - and we pay the price.  Job losses, thousands of closed business' - empty shops on the high streets and poverty hitting millions in the UK while claiming to be one of the wealthiest counties.
For too long the masses have paid for the few and for too long the few have enjoyed the luxuries of a lifestyle paid for by us and this sickening attitude has got to stop.
Cut backs by the government are inevitable - but this comes from a government trying to clean up someone elses mess and whatever they do will be critisised.  With the banks screwing everyone to the wall - STILL - and being in the knowlwdge that governments will not allow them to fail,   they have us all over a barrel and will do whatever they like and to hell with the rest of us and this is why so many people feel disenfranchised and betrayed by a system that has let millions of people and  tens of thousands of business' - fail.

LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD.
LET THESE BANKERS AND POLITICIANS KNOW YOU WILL NOT STAND BY AND HAVE YOUR LIFE - YOUR FAMILY - YOUR JOB AND YOUR HARD EARNED PENSION BE STOLEN FROM YOU BY SOME SNOTTY NOSED BANKER AND INCOMPETANT POLITICIAN WHO END UP RICHER THAN WE CAN ONLY DREAM ABOUT AND WHO HAVE NO CONSCIENC
E
and while millions suffer,  they claim to be 'Doing God's work.'

BE PRO ACTIVE IN YOUR OWN LIFE AND THAT OF OTHERS

WALL STREET IS WAR STREET: THE PROTESTS GO GLOBAL

*********************************
WALL STREET IS WAR STREET: THE PROTESTS GO GLOBAL

The Occupy Wall Street (OWS) protests this weekend have spread worldwide taking in 1000 towns and cities in 80 countries. We could be witnessing the start of a global movement on a scale we haven't seen since tens of millions went on to the streets in 2003 to oppose the Iraq war.

At the heart of the US Occupy Wall Street demands is the call to cut the war machine which has consumed over a trillion dollars in the past ten years and is currently fighting wars in seven countries - Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, Somalia, Yemen and - the latest addition - Uganda, where Obama has just deployed US troops.

If the "war on terror" is included - the latest instalment of  which is the ludicrous Iranian "plot", the war-addicted Barack   Obama - holder of the Nobel Peace Prize - is currently waging  eight wars. (READ MORE HERE)

We need to make the cost of the UK war machine integral to the OWS movement here, which has begun so impressively this weekend with Occupy the London Stock Exchange.

This year alone Britain is spending £9 billion on the wars in Afghanistan and Libya and on the maintenance of the Trident
nuclear missile system. Recent Stop the War articles have shown how this money could be used to fund public services, rather than the government's current policy of decimating them.
