US Knew of Mass Korean
Killings
http://www.truthout.org/article/us-knew-mass-korean-killings
The Associated Press reports: "The American colonel, troubled by what he was
hearing, tried to stall at first. But the declassified record shows he finally
told his South Korean counterpart it 'would be permitted' to machine-gun 3,500
political prisoners, to keep them from joining approaching enemy forces. In the
early days of the Korean War, other American officers observed, photographed and
confidentially reported on such wholesale executions by their South Korean ally,
a secretive slaughter believed to have killed 100,000 or more leftists and
supposed sympathizers, usually without charge or trial, in a few weeks in
mid-1950."
( absolutely gob smacking - the
kind of people we have in charge - who allow these things to happen - is breath
taking. It absolutely beggars belief. I was truly stunned to read
this - and we complain about Hitler and the Jews he murdered.... when America is
no better when it turns a blind eye to this kind of thing just as we turned a
blind eye to the Jews in WW2. )
Senate Ratifies
Massive War Bill 92-6
http://www.truthout.org/article/congress-passes-new-iraq-war-funds
Reuters reports: "The US Senate on Thursday approved
$161.8 billion in new funds to continue fighting the wars in Iraq and
Afghanistan for the next year, without timetables for withdrawing combat
troops."
US Seeking 58 Bases in
Iraq, Shiite Lawmakers Say
http://www.truthout.org/article/us-seeking-58-bases-iraq-shiite-lawmakers-say
Leila Fadel, of McClatchy Newspapers: "Iraqi lawmakers say the United States is
demanding 58 bases as part of a proposed 'status of forces' agreement that will
allow US troops to remain in the country indefinitely. Leading members of the
two ruling Shiite parties said in a series of interviews the Iraqi government
rejected this proposal along with another US demand that would have effectively
handed over to the United States the power to determine if a hostile act from
another country is aggression against Iraq. Lawmakers said they fear this power
would drag Iraq into a war between the United States and Iran."

Make No Mistake: McCain's a
Neocon
http://www.truthout.org/article/make-no-mistake-mccains-a-neocon
Robert Parry, of Consortium News: "Since clinching the Republican presidential
nomination, John McCain has sought to hide the forest of his neoconservative
alignment with George W. Bush amid the trees of details, such as stressing
differences over military tactics used in Iraq. But the larger reality should be
clear: McCain is a hard-line neoconservative who buys into Bush's 'preemptive
war' theories abroad and his concept of an all-powerful 'unitary executive' at
home."
The new Australian government is not
only pulling its troops out of Iraq, but also citing false intelligence
used by the Bush administration to justify the invasion. In this
article, former CIA analyst Ray McGovern notes how the U.S. still lags
in candor about the war.

The Real McCain
http://www.truthout.org/article/the-real-mccain
Reporting for The Observer UK, Paul Harris writes: "But there is
another, very different side to John McCain. Away from the headlines and
the stirring speeches, a less familiar figure lurks. It is a McCain who
plans to fight on in Iraq for years to come and who might launch
military action against Iran. This is the McCain whose campaign and
career has been riddled with lobbyists and special interests. It is a
McCain who has sided with religious and political extremists who believe
Islam is evil and gays are immoral. It is a McCain who wants to appoint
extreme conservatives to the Supreme Court and see abortion banned. This
McCain has a notoriously volatile temper that has scared some senior
members of his own party."
Federal Court Rules Against Military Gays Policy
http://www.truthout.org/article/federal-court-rules-against-military-gays-policy
Reporting for The Associated Press, Gene Johnson writes: "The
military cannot automatically discharge people because they're gay, a
federal appeals court ruled in the case of a decorated flight nurse who
sued the Air Force over her dismissal."
Contractors Gone
Wild
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/050308B.shtml
In Mother Jones, Bruce Falconer writes: "Allegations of widespread
mismanagement and corruption among private contractors in Iraq are
nothing new; if anything, tales of cronyism, over-billing, and
embezzlement have become so frequent that our national tolerance for
them seems only to have increased as the Iraq War has drawn on. Even so,
the testimony earlier this week of three whistleblowers before the
Senate's Democratic Policy Committee (DPC) stands out for the sheer
outrageousness of their accusations - namely that US private contractors
looted Iraqi palaces and ministries, stole military equipment, fenced
supplies destined for US troops, and even operated a prostitution ring
that may have contributed to the death of fellow contractor."
Fury at Soaring Fuel Costs Spreads Around
the World
http://www.truthout.org/article/fury-soaring-fuel-costs-spreads-around-world
The London Evening Standard: "Worldwide protests over the rising price
of fuel escalated today, with the Philippine presidential palace
besieged by lorries, fishermen burning their boats in Thailand, and
Spanish petrol stations running dry as hauliers blockade major roads."
Ireland Derails a
Bid to Recast Europe's Rules
http://www.truthout.org/article/ireland-derails-a-bid-recast-europes-rules
The New York Times's Sarah Lyall and Stephen Castle write: "Europe was
thrown into political turmoil on Friday by Ireland's rejection of the
Lisbon Treaty, a painstakingly negotiated blueprint for consolidating
the European Union's power and streamlining its increasingly unwieldy
bureaucracy."
Floods Threaten World's Corn
http://www.truthout.org/article/floods-threaten-worlds-corn
Stevenson Jacobs of The Associated Press reports: "Floods that have
inundated the Midwest could reduce world corn supplies and drive food
prices higher at a time when Americans are stretching their grocery
budgets and when people in poor countries have rioted over rising food
costs."

Letter to Sally Kern
from a senior in high school in
Oklahoma
Oklahoma Representative, Sally Kern, in a recent meeting
with some of her constituents, equated homosexuality with
terrorism and malignant cancer. She was recorded saying that
http://www.gaywired.com/article.cfm?section=70&id=18433
Oklahoma Representative, Sally Kern,
“Homosexuality is a bigger threat to our nation than terrorism or
Islam.” She continued that “According to God words, it is not the
right kind of lifestyle….Gays are infiltrating city councils…. It’s
deadly and its spreading, and it will destroy our young people, and it
will destroy this nation.”
A letter to Sally Kern from a senior
in high school in
Oklahoma
Today my nephew attempted to deliver a letter to Sally Kern
but was stopped
by a highway patrol man. With his permission I am distributing the
letter to
all news stations and thought I would include it here.
Maybe we can all stand to learn a listen from this smart, loving, young
man.
He more than most has reason to hate. He lost his mother, my sister, in
the
Murrah
Building bombing.
Elizabeth
Rep Kern:
On April 19, 1995, in
Oklahoma City a terrorist detonated a bomb that killed
my mother and 167 others. 19 children died that day. Had I not had the
chicken pox that day, the body count would've likely have included one
more.
Over 800 other Oklahomans were injured that day and many of those still
suffer through their permanent wounds.
That terrorist was neither a homosexual or was he involved in Islam. He
was
an extremist Christian forcing his views through a body count. He held
his
beliefs and made those who didn't live up to them pay with their lives.
As you were not a resident of
Oklahoma on that day, it could be explained
why you so carelessly chose words saying that the homosexual agenda is
worst
than terrorism. I can most certainly tell you through my own experience
that
is not true. I am sure there are many people in your voting district
that
laid a loved one to death after the terrorist attack on
Oklahoma City. I
kind of doubt you'll find one of them that will agree with you.
I was five years old when my mother died. I remember what a beautiful,
wise,
and remarkable woman she was. I miss her. Your harsh words and misguided
beliefs brought me to tears, because you told me that my mother's killer
was
a better person than a group of people that are seeking safety and
tolerance
for themselves.
As someone left motherless and victimized by terrorists, I say to you
very
clearly you are absolutely wrong.
You represent a district in
Oklahoma City and you very coldly express a lack
of love, sympathy or understanding for what they've been through. Can I
ask
if you might have chosen wiser words were you a real Oklahoman that was
here
to share the suffering with
Oklahoma City? Might your heart be a bit less
cold had you been around to see the small bodies of children being
pulled
out of rubble and carried away by weeping firemen?
I've spent 12 years in
Oklahoma public schools and never once have I had
anyone try to force a gay agenda on me. I have seen, however, many gay
students beat up and there's never a day in school that has went by when
I
haven't heard the word **** slung at someone. I've been called gay slurs
many times and they hurt and I am not even gay so I can just imagine how
a
real gay person feels. You were a school teacher and you have seen those
things too. How could you care so little about the suffering of some of
your
students?
Let me tell you the result of your words in my school. Every openly gay
and
suspected gay in the school were having to walk together Monday for
protection. They looked scared. They've already experienced enough hate
and
now your words gave other students even more motivation to sneer at them
and
call them names. Afterall, you are a teacher and a lawmaker, many young
people have taken your words to heart. That happens when you assume a
role
of responsibility in your community. I seriously think before this week
ends
that some kids here will be going home bruised and bloody because of
what
you said.
I wish you could've met my mom. Maybe she could've guided you in how a
real
Christian should be acting and speaking.
I have not had a mother for nearly 13 years now and wonder if there were
fewer people like you around, people with more love and tolerance in
their
hearts instead of strife, if my mom would be here to watch me graduate
from
high school this spring. Now she won't be there. So I'll be packing my things and leaving
Oklahoma to go to college elsewhere and one day be a
writer and I have no intentions to ever return here. I have no doubt
that
people like you will incite crazy people to build more bombs and kill
more
people again. I don't want to be here for that. I just can't go through
that
again.
You may just see me as a kid, but let me try to teach you something. The
old
saying is sticks and stones will break your bones, but words will never
hurt
you. Well, your words hurt me. Your words disrespected the memory of my
mom.
Your words can cause others to pick up sticks and stones and hurt
others.
Sincerely
Tucker

The next election in the USA - want to know what
I think....
( Maybe - just maybe - the Republicans do not want to win the
next election and so have chosen an old man to lead their party knowing no one
will vote for an old man when he is up against the first black man and / or
first women to become President - and who are both considerably younger than
their candidate, and the reason they do not want to win :- they know they
stand no chance of correcting such a bad situation in Iraq and Afghanistan and
so will leave it up to the Democrats to try and sort out and then - from the
'backbenches ' they can bitch and complain about the manner in which the
Democrats try and clean up the mess they have left behind with the economy, the
various wars and just about everything they have raped and plundered to feed
their own financial coffers through corporate America. ... Maybe,
just maybe... )

Over the past half dozen years, George W.
Bush has shifted the United States from its tradition as a Republic with
inalienable rights into a new-age authoritarian state run more like the
Mafia.
Not only does Bush now assert his right to
snatch people off the street and jail them without trial, but he reportedly
has dispatched assassins around the world to eliminate perceived enemies.
Bush also continues to purge honest officials who won't respect his omerta

| The size of the lie is a
definite factor in causing it to be believed, for the vast masses of
a nation are in the depths of their hearts more easily deceived than
they are consciously and intentionally bad. The primitive simplicity
of their minds renders them a more easy prey to a big lie than a
small one, for they themselves often tell little lies, but would be
ashamed to tell big lies.

one is plainly arrogant and evil while the other
is just a dumb idiot cowboy and the whole world knows this if only they were not
so scared to open their gobs and speak out against the most dangerous political
ideology to hit the planet since Hitler.

it seems TRUTH is hard to find in
politics these days.
For many Americans who have watched
Mel Gibson's Apocalypto, the pain of the fictional ancient Mayas in the movie is
more real than the actual suffering of real Mayas who were tortured and
slaughtered in the 1980s with the help of then-President Ronald Reagan.
When a right-wing military dictator was waging this modern genocide against
Mayas, Reagan was busy covering the killers' tracks and giving them more
efficient weapons to carry out the task. But that history now
is less known to Americans than Gibson's faux history of 500 years ago.

them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving

Maybe it is time for someone to
show Mr. George W. Bush the dictionary term for what the word DEMOCRACY actually
means. If anyone needs to re-evaluate what it is to be the President of a
DEMOCRACY, then George W. DESPERATELY seems to have forgotten what the word
actually means.

The mission of Truthout is to establish a powerful, stable
voice for independent journalism.
The core of our mission is educational, providing readers with critical news and
commentary on world events.
We do truthout for three reasons: Far too often, the mainstream television news
media act as little more than commercial advertisers for their parent companies.
This is not journalism, and we desperately need journalism in this day and age.
We also do truthout because the mainstream print media, while retaining great
credibility, requires an enormous amount of time to sift through properly. Our
editors, who read between 10 and 30 newspapers a day, do that for you.
Finally, the English philosopher John Locke said, "It is one
thing to show a man that he is in error, and another to put him in possession of
truth." Tonight, tomorrow, and for as long as we are able, truthout will be in
the business of putting you in possession of the truth.

is the concept of being able to speak
freely
without censorship. It is often regarded as an integral concept in
modern liberal democracies. The right to freedom of speech is
guaranteed under international law through numerous human rights
instruments, notably under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration
of Human Rights and Article 10 of the European Convention on Human
Rights, although implementation remains lacking in many countries.
The synonymous term freedom of expression is sometimes preferred,
since the right is not confined to verbal speech but is understood
to protect any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information
or ideas, regardless of the medium used.

is checked monthly by the US MILITARY - between 50 and 100 times a month, and I
have to wonder why ? Do you think they fear that the millions of
unhappy people like me - maybe even billions of unhappy people around the
planet, are planning to take over the world and give it back to the people
through fair trade, honesty, compassion and as a global family working together
through being NICE ? Obviously they think the way forward is being the
bully and throwing their weight around and denying an assortment of human rights
and through torture and mistreatment not just of individuals but of nations with
less than their own, and by causing so much hatred towards their own
country that will last for generations to come, and in the meantime making
a fortune for big business who then don't pay much tax and the general
public suffer while Corporate America bullies and plunders the planet -
the government then uses an assortment of lies to drag us into various wars - do
you think they consider THIS to be the correct way forward for an
enlightened species ? Is this how we should tell our children to behave in
the school yard... that the biggest bully wins and that's the way to behave ?
Is the USA a
good example to the young generations ahead
or maybe your
worst possible nightmare ?
It's not
about people, community of even country any more... it's about Corporate America
and global domination through fear. It's about 'pre-emptive strikes' - as
in - you hitting the bully in the playground before he hits you, even if all he
is, is a big wind bag, and then what does that make you - a bully.

NOTICE OF REVOCATION OF INDEPENDENCE
TO CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
In light of your failure to make the correct decision in electing your
President, thus showing you to be unfit to govern yourselves, we hereby
give you notice of the revocation of your independence effective as of
Monday 8th November 2004.
Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchical duties
over all states, commonwealths and other territories. Except Utah, which
she doesn't much fancy.
Your new Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Tony Blair M.P., for the 97.85% of
you unaware of the outside world, will appoint a Minister for America
without the need for further elections. Congress and the Senate will be
disbanded. A questionnaire will be circulated in twelve months time to
determine if any of you noticed.
To aid your transition into a British Crown Dependency, the following
rules are introduced with immediate effect:
1. All citizens are to look up "revocation" in the Oxford English
Dictionary. While there, check the pronunciation guide for "aluminum" -
this may be surprising for you. Generally attempt to raise your
vocabulary to acceptable levels. Look up "vocabulary". Using the same 27
words interspersed with "like" and "you know" is an unacceptable form of
communication. Look up "interspersed".
2. There is no such thing as "U.S. English". We will let Microsoft
know on your behalf.
3. Learn to distinguish British and Australian accents. It's not
difficult.
4. Hollywood will henceforth be required to occasionally cast
Englishmen as good guys.
5. Re-learn your original anthem, "God Save the Queen". Please
ensure that you have complied with the first law before attempting this.
6. Stop playing American "football". There is only one kind of
"football". What you refer to as "football" is not a very good game. The
2.15% of you aware of a world outside of your borders may have noticed
that no one else plays it. Play proper football instead; to start with
get the girls to help you - it is a difficult game. Those of you brave
enough will, eventually, be allowed to play rugby, which is similar to
American "football", but does not involve stopping for a rest every
twenty seconds or wearing full Kevlar body armour like nancies.
7. Declare war on Quebec and France, using nukes if they give you
any merde. The 97.85% of you unaware of the outside world should count
yourselves lucky - the Russians have never really been bad guys. "Merde"
is French for "sh*t".
8. 4th July is no longer a public holiday. 5th November will be the
new national holiday.
9. American cars are hereby banned. They are crap; its for your own
good. When we show you German cars you'll understand.
10. Please tell us who killed JFK. It's been driving us crazy.
President Bush and Colin Powell are sitting in a bar.
A guy walks in and asks the barman,
"Isn't that Bush and Powell sitting over there?"
The barman says, "Yep, that's them."
So the guy walks over and says,
"Wow, this is a real honor. What are you guys doing in here?"
Bush says, "We're planning WW III."
And the guy says, "Really? What's going to happen?"
Bush says, "Well, we're going to kill 140 million Iraqis this time and one
blonde with big tits."
The guy exclaimed,
"A blonde with big tits?" "Why kill a blonde with big tits?"
Bush turns to Powell and says,
"See, I told you no one would worry about the 140 million Iraqis!"
---------------------------------------------
One man responded to this joke by comparing me to Hitler while COMPLETELY
ignoring what the joke is telling us. That sort of rhetoric is as dangerous and
as vile as the Bush / Blair lies we have been force fed for months - as they
have not listened or read or paid attention to what others have said, but
bulldozed their way forward through lies and deception and we - sadly - have
been dragged into a war which most of us are against. The writer who compared me
to Hitler is ignorant of the fact that I DO NOT SUPPORT THIS WAR but he was not
willing to educate himself and seemed willing to stay ignorant and insulting to
those who are - in some small way - trying to make a difference, and it is
because of people like him who destroy those who are trying to do something to
bring about change, and all they do is simply sit back and do nothing. His
ignorance of the truth is just as evil and just as vile as anything we have
witnessed from a corrupt manipulative political body supposedly voted into power
by the people.
The joke: It's all about how Bush and Blair can hide the truth behind something
that draws our attention away from the truth... like recently... the papers are
full of Erikson ( the football coach) and where he has been sticking his dick
and in whom.. when the truth is... who gives a shit... yet it finds its way onto
the front of the papers and distract and hides the truth for many. Politicians
rely on this and so do spin doctors, who use the media and bullshit stories like
Erikson to hide the truth from public view. That is what this joke is telling us
and is a very fine example - and it's a shame that some people can't realise
this and they throw their bully boy attitude at others before appreciating or
learning some of the alternative truths.
It takes all sorts I suppose, it's just a shame when we are actually on the same
'side' yet they are too blind to open their mind a little further and see this.
Especially as the man in question has a web page that states his business is all
about helping people with communication.
Sometimes I despair.

Some of your responses to this political page.
Hey, you stupid fucks.
You lot really need to learn some facts. You think the world can cope without
America ? It'll be different when more terrorist bombs go off in trains in
London, Paris or whatever and you will then be calling for us Americans to come
bail you out, to wipe your little white butts and hold your hands and tell you
what to do concerning terrorism, just as you did in world war two. The world
needs the mighty strength of our great nation so why don't you all just shut the
fuck up and get over it and realize that my great country really is the greatest
and we will do what we damned well please and you will all fall in line behind
what we choose to do cos you are all spineless wimps that don't even know what
the hell you are talking about. Try reading some honest and truthful American
news for a change and not all that bullshit you read abroad. Honestly, you
people make me sick.
I'm a proud American. Randy B. ( Orlando, Florida )
Dear John:
As a truly patriotic American I apologize
to the world for the manner in which our administration has destroyed much of
what we know of democracy while claiming to be supporting the very ideals set up
in our constitution. Many - I think the vast majority,
Americans have at last awoken to the truth and we now find ourselves prisoners
in a country run by an administration with so many hidden agendas that we are
faced, daily, with new and horrifying things they are doing that we feel
impotent to stop. Generations will suffer because of this - here and
around the world. Terrorism has never been so bad and this fight against it,
both home and abroad, is frightening. In the US itself, our rights
are eroding and we are fast becoming a police state where we are called
unpatriotic if we stand against Bush and demonized in the media and life
is not free for us at all... I read Randy B's e mail and believe me, there
are a lot of ignorant red necks like that around and we are truly ashamed
of that attitude and arrogance and ashamed to call them Americans. their
ignorance shines through at every word and it's attitudes like that that cause
these awful atrocities.
Thankyou for your web site political page.
Richard C. Boston. Ma.
Dear John.
Thank you for enlightening me. Politics was not my thing, but I read your page
and clicked on some things that woke me up. Now I am motivated. Now I am angry.
I really believe in the 'Not In My Name' and do not support this 'so called' war
on terror, as that's exactly what it is... a war of terror, for the people of
Iraq and Afghanistan, against the huge and powerful USA shooting at people
living way below the poverty line and who live in another century to us.
Thanks again
Richard. ( London )
Dear Mr. Bellamy:
I didn't know what to make of your web sites Political Page and I was
apprehensive to open and read some of the stuff you displayed. It took me a week
or so of checking, re-checking and re-reading, sorting through a lot of our own
media stuff and web stuff to discover that you have opened my eyes to a whole
lot of what our President has been doing. I had absolutely no idea. Our news on
the Tv says none of this stuff. Chemical weapons being used in Iraq - ??? By our
American forces ? What the hell is going on ?
I confess I voted for Bush the second time as I thought ( because of our
corrupted media ) he was doing a great job. I now know differently. I have
pointed your web site out to many of my friends here and believe me, many have
mentioned it since. I did, however, loose one friend who believes as Randy B.
above does, and that mind block is unhealthy and dangerous and makes me ashamed.
Our great nation. Our great land. Freedom for all. Spreading democracy. What a
sad and sorry joke that now seems. I am really upset as my whole belief
structure in my country has been turned on its head. I thought differently, that
we were the good guys, and now it has come crashing down around me for I now
know a different truth. That saddens me. America - what a sham, what have we
done. What have we allowed to happen in our names.
I can only try and tell others as you are doing. Thanks Sir.
