Dolly Parton has strong feelings about Black Lives Matter & she’s not holding back

In 2016, Parton told Larry King that she gets pushback from Christian fans about her support of LGBTQ people. But rather than dance around the issue, she said she calls them out on their
un-Christian attitudes and behaviors.
A new Billboard interview with country superstar Dolly Parton is earning the singer even more praise. Known for her generosity and goodwill, Parton didn’t hold back when asked about Black Lives Matter and the struggle for equality in America.
“Of course Black lives matter,” Parton shot back when asked about the recent protests for racial justice following the death of George Floyd.
“Do we think our little white asses are the only ones that matter? No!”
The interview also mentions Parton’s easy decision to change the name of her dinner attraction. The singer changed it from “Dixie Stampede” to “Dolly’s Stampede.” She said she changed it after realizing how “hurtful” the word Dixie is to some people.
“There’s such a thing as innocent ignorance, and so many of us are guilty of that,” she told the outlet. “When they said ‘Dixie’ was an offensive word, I thought, ‘Well, I don’t want to offend anybody. This is a business. We’ll just call it ‘The Stampede.’ As soon as you realize that [something] is a problem, you should fix it. Don’t be a dumbass. That’s where my heart is. I would never dream of hurting anybody on purpose.”
Parton was an early supporter of LGBTQ rights, endorsing marriage equality long before any other country singers and most Democratic politicians. Parton is also a vocal defender of transgender rights.

“I keep saying, ‘If you’re the fine Christian that you think you are, why are you judging people?’ That’s God’s job,” she explained. “We’re not God, we’re not judges, we’re supposed to love one another, we’re supposed to not judge.”
“I’ve got too much work to do in my own to try to do God’s work too,” she added.
“I just think that we should be more loving, more caring. We are who we are. If you’re gay, you’re gay. If you’re straight, you’re straight. And you should be allowed to be how you are and who you are.”
The Tennessee legislature is considering replacing a statue in the state Capitol of former Klu Klux Klan leader and former Confederate soldier Nathan Bedford Forrest with one of Parton.

There are some people you meet in life that you always just know, are good people, and Dolly Parton is one of them.
I was on a flight many mons ago - in first class - and moments before they shut the doors the last passenger came aboard. I was not really paying attention but was aware that a women had sat down on the seat opposite me across the aisle. The stewardess came over and asked this women if she neded anything and that's when I heard the vopice say -
'No thanks Hun, I am just fine and if anyone wants an autograph - maybe later'
and I looked round to see it was Dolly Parton.
She smiled a huge big smile at me and she actually spoke to me
'Oh I am so sorry Huin, I hope you don't mind.'
I said that of course I wouldn't mind and that I had just seen her film 'The Best Little Whore House in Texas' which was just out. I mentioned how much I loved the film and the song.IWill Always Love You' and how it touched me, the gentlke way she saig it and how emotional her rendition was.
She was clearly delighted and we spoke for awhile about the song and how it was actually an old song she wrote and recorded some years before and how she felt it was just right for that part of the film.
As the plane started to taxi I said I would leave her in peace to enjoy her flight, and she thanked me, went to the bathroom and came back minus the hair but with a rather glam head scalf with a few quiffs of hair showing ( she wears wigs ) and she put on those blackout eye things and appeared to sleep.
She was so sweet.
When it came time to land we spoke a little and she said how much she had enjoyed chatting with me and she left straight away as soon as the doors opened.
I have loved her ever since.
