Alcohol Health Alliance (AHA).

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your support of the Alcohol Health Alliance (AHA).
I set up the AHA in 2007, when I was the president of the Royal College of Physicians of London, to create a space where organisations and people could come together to speak with one voice about reducing alcohol harm.
Much has changed since then: we now have close to 60 member organisations, a dedicated team of staff and strong relationships with Parliamentarians and journalists. However, many other things have not changed: too many people are still dying from alcohol every day, too many families and communities continue to be harmed, and there is too little support for those who need it.
It is our mission to change that.
Last year, we supported the Commission on Alcohol Harm to collect the most up-to-date evidence on the effect alcohol has on our society. We heard so many stories of the impact on individuals, families and communities and can learn so much from them. Since we published the Commission's report, more than 300 people have written to their MPs to ask them to take action. The report has also been debated in Parliament and a government Minister agreed that "there is still much work to be done".
We will not stand still. We will continue to press the government to take alcohol harm serious and take bold action to tackle it. With your help, we can achieve that change. Thank you again for your support.

John Bellamy Comments: I know I bang on about this all the time and I know you are probably fed up with hearing it, but alcohol is the biggest danger to the safety and comfort of society and not drugs. Banging on all the time about the dangers of Marihuana / Cannabis is absolutely so OVER PLAYED it beggars belief.
FACT; MARIJUANA DOES NOT KILL YOU.
FACT: ALCOHOL KILLS TENS OF THOUSANDS EVERY YEAR.
FACT: MARIJUANA IS NON ADDICTIVE.
FACT: ALCOHOL IS VERY ADDICTIVE.
FACT: MARIJUANA IS SOCIALLY UNNACCEPTABLE.
FACT: ALCOHOL IS SOCIALLY ACCEPTED AND PROMOTED.
THE MONEY SPENT ON THE ILLEGAL DRUG TRADE AND THAT OF PROSTITUTION ARE COUNTED AS PART OF THE GDP ( GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT ) OF THE UK. SO FINANCIALLY GOES TO BUILD HOSPITALS AND PAY DOLE MONEY - FINANCIALLY GOES TOWARDS THE NHS AND EDUCATION. FINANCIALLY IT HELPS TOWARDS SOCIAL CARE FOR THE ELDERLY AND IT HELPS TOWARDS THE GENERAL RUNNING OF THE COUNTRY AND YET ARE BOTH CONSIDERED ILLEGAL.
The double standards played between business and people and government and police and all the ' do gooders' - of which most have bad education / fake news - concerning the dangers of Marijuana and the acceptability of alcohol - which is freely available in every supermarket and just about every 'corner shop' - and this is how MANY business stay afloat as alcohol sells and sells BIG and the profit is MASSIVE and is a BIG money spinner ( AND ALL TAXABLE ) The fact that it kills tens of thousands every year and destroys town centres in the evening, ruins peoples holidays, destroys relationships and causes a HUGE AMOUNT OF GRIEF - AND COST TO THE NHS - for those close to the drinker, lives are ruined and it is NOT dugs but alcohol - but is socially acceptable.
ABSOLUTE MADNESS AND DOUBLE STANDARDS and where the ignorant public bitch the smoker while drinking alcohol which is far more deadly.
