British holidaymakers are more willing to use nudist beaches abroad than on home shores, a new survey suggests.

One in five Britons are happy to strip off at a nude beach during a holiday abroad while just one in 20 would go to a nudist beach in Britain, according to a survey by the online travel agent On the Beach.

Men were found to be more keen to bare it all than women, with one in three men willing to use a naturist beach abroad, and 10 per cent happy to go clothes-free on Britain’s nudist beaches. Women seemed to be more reserved, with only 12 per cent willing to head to a nudist beach on foreign shores, and a mere two per cent saying they would strip off on a beach in Britain.

“When on holiday, people often feel more audacious, confident in the knowledge they won’t bump into neighbours, colleagues or old friends,” said Alistair Daly, Chief Marketing Officer at On the Beach.

“The weather could also have an effect on the willingness to strip off, as the chances of sporting obvious and irritating tan lines are somewhat lower after a day spent sunbathing in the mild UK temperatures compared to the scorching summers in the Mediterranean,” he added.

In a sign that perhaps we shed our inhibitions as we get older, those over 50 were more confident to go naked on home shores, with nearly one in 10 willing to use nude beaches in Britain compared to only two per cent of those aged under 30. However, one in five of those under 30 were willing to use nudist beaches abroad.

Another recent poll by On the Beach revealed that only one per cent of Britons were annoyed by nudity on the beach, with loud music, insects, noisy children and dogs said to be more irritating. Bare bodies were placed as the tenth biggest bugbear on a beach.

With the sun shining and warm weather to rival the Caribbean, it might be tempting to get your kit off in the privacy of your own garden to avoid any tan lines.

However, there are rules to follow if you want to stay on the right side of the law.

We've rounded-up what you need to know. What are the laws on being naked in public in the UK? According to the law, it's not an offence to be naked in public, but it can be an offence if you cause distress or alarm to others.

That means you're perfectly fine to sunbathe in the nude in your own garden - as long as it doesn't upset your neighbours. This is what the actual law states: "In the absence of any sexual context and in relation to nudity where the person has no intention to cause alarm or distress it will normally be appropriate to take no action unless members of the public were actually caused harassment, alarm or distress (as opposed to considering the likelihood of this)."

So if you live in the countryside with no one overlooking your garden, go ahead but you might want to think again if you live near others. It's also recommended that people who want to sunbathe naked should inform their neighbours first.

John Bellamy Comments: So you are expected to ask your neighbours permission if you want to sit naked in your own garden - Have you ever heard such twoddle, such crap, in all your life. As long as you cannot be seen and you are not - like one dumb friend - deliberately provoking to cause and create a problem and then when one does blow up, act all innocent and surprised - and as long as you are not displaying blatant forms of sexuality, fuck the neighboiurs - well not literally, but what you do - IN PRIVATE - in your own back yard is no one's business.

Many have a messed up attitude surrounding sex and even if just standing dead still but naked, some will take offense and scream and this says a great deal more about the screamer than the person standing naked. Society - ior at least many within society - are really fucked up - a mess emotionally, sexually and morally - and assume they have the right to tell others how to live their lives in accordance with how they personally see things and NOT how the world actually is. We are sexual beings and if kept private and legal - is no one elses business - especiually the Born Again Hypocrits and the sexually fucked up and those who are not getting it but resent anyone else that is. Pure and simple.

I anjoy being naked in our garden here and around Hamilton Hall and July and August are NAKED MONTHS - while the rest oif the year is CLOTHING OPTIONAL.

HE ISN'T NAKED BELOW - JUST HOT HOT HOT
