In 2024, a gentle man discovered a distressed dog dragging her paralyzed body through the snow, cold and frightened, as reported by NoAnimalBehind.
This traumatized dog, terrified of brooms and any objects resembling a stick, had not lost her trust in humanity.

He promptly contacted a local animal shelter for assistance, and they took her to a veterinary clinic for a CT scan. “We need to determine why she is unable to walk,” the shelter stated.
They named her Ellie.
“I could list a thousand reasons why I love animals, but yesterday, I was especially moved by this paralyzed dog I saved. As I began to kiss and hug her, she started to cry!” her rescuer shared.
For the first time in her life, Ellie experienced true love. Five days later, the CT scan results revealed that her paralysis wasn’t due to a car accident; instead, it seemed she had been struck by a hard object, likely a bat, which compressed her spinal cord and left her unable to walk. This explained her fear of sweeping.
Ellie is currently undergoing anti-inflammatory treatment and will likely require physiotherapy to regain her ability to walk. After 15 days, a miracle occurred—Ellie started to walk again. She is making daily progress as she learns to regain her mobility.
“Before the physiotherapy session, we took a 20-minute walk outside, and she did remarkably well!”
Ellie is on the mend and can now walk a little. While she still needs treatment and physiotherapy, her recovery is hopeful.

My Top 10 Favorite Dog Stories of the Year!
He has never bitten me besides playing, but today, while walking the lake as we always

do, he became pretty aggressive nipping at me, then wrapped my leg and his dew claws really dig in.
I turned to scold him and he ran around me like trying to avoid me. I turned to grab him and he had a copper head snake backed against a log and he tried to kill the snake till I got a stick to finish him off. Literally almost filled my eyes with tears knowing he risked his life to save me. I literally sat down with him and held him. This guy is by far my guardian. The best dog ever award goes to this guy. Rather have this cut than the bite from that copperhead any day. Thankful for my best friend.
