I need some advice. Here is a little background, mostly not relevant to my question for you, but you may enjoy the back story.

I need some advice. Here is a little background, mostly not relevant to my question for you, but you may enjoy the back story.
I recently returned from a visit to Palm Springs. I had "unplugged" for a couple of weeks while on a trip to Baha California, Mexico (which was amazing), and I had about 1500 emails to sort through. I figured that PS would be a good place to do that. I booked a room at the Desert Paradise Resort, a "clothing optional" venue catering to gay men. There are 4 or 5 of these in the Warm Sands neighborhood of PS. The resort, which has maybe 20 rooms around a heated salt water pool and a hot tub, was only about half full. I had a king room.

I checked in around 3 p.m., stripped off all my clothes, went out to the pool and lathered up with sun screen. It was cool for Palm Springs, not quite 70 (21 for you). It felt good to be naked. After a bit I made it to the hot tub and met some of the other blokes, mostly dad types. None really caught my fancy. Not much eye candy, either. But I was polite, as one should be when naked in a tub with 5-6 men.
I soon learned that the etiquette at this venue seemed to be to arrange a dinner date with those you intend to fuck. This was made clear when a group of four, now wearing PS casual, walked past the pool as they departed for dinner, and one loudly announced: "This is great. Everyone has their hookups for the evening."
"Not everyone" I thought to myself, as I soaked alone in the hot tub. That guy was either rude or oblivious. Or both.

Perhaps I wasn't sexually attractive enough for that mostly balding, beer belly crowd. Yes, I am a little older than you are, John. But I'm what gay lingo calls an otter. I work out at the gym, have a hairy chest, a full head of white hair, and a larger than average thick dick. But Palm Springs is definitely in the shallow end of the sexual attraction pool of the gay "community." Looks, and youth, are the coin of the realm for a dinner invitation.
Then another couple arrived: a fifty-ish man who walked with a cane and had clearly suffered a stroke at some time and his 30-ish overweight boyfriend with a scraggly beard, who very tenderly helped him down the path. Jeff and Brock were from Portland and had come for a week's RnR in the gay mecca, where the mayor and all of the city council persons are gay, bisexual or transgender. There even is an LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce.
Brock and Jeff joined me In the hot tub and we got to chatting. They were both very engaging, but soon Jeff went back to his room. Brock gave me that "come fuck me" look and I moved closer. Soon we were back in my room, and I did as he wished. He was on his back, and shot his load so hard it landed in his beard. I licked it up and kissed him. He told me he had to go check on Jeff. He asked me to come over too.
Jeff was laying naked on the bed. Although his body showed the effects of a stroke, he had a delicious thick 7+ inches. I told him I love a deep throat challenge and took all of him. Balls deep. I told Brock to join me and we french kissed his dick up and down the shaft.
They both like to smoke pot, as do I, so we met over the next few days in the smoking area. Brock had come to PS to get fucked, although he told me that he usually doesn't get an opportunity for a repeat. Except with Jeff. If he shed a couple of stone he maybe would be more my type. OK maybe I too swim in that shallow pool when looking for a hookup, but he was so sweet I found myself wanting to make sure he had a good time. He did. I enjoyed giving him pleasure.

OK so now for my question about the hospitality industry. My room, not the cheapest at the venue, had an intermittent loud and annoying humming pitch. Brock heard it. So did another guy who came to my room for the reason strangers at a nude gay resort visit each other's rooms. I mentioned it to the staff person on duty and he told me to wait for an employee there named Carson. He came over and heard it as well. He couldn't figure out the source and said he thought it was coming from outside the room, although it could not be heard when one stepped outside the door. It wasn't constant, and I was mostly enjoying the sun on my naked body anyway.
When it was time to leave, I put on my sandals and the robe provided by the resort and packed away most of my things in my car. Checkout was at 11 a.m. A small bag with clothes for my trip, the room key and my phone were in the room while I went for a smoke. Just before 11 I went back to the room to retrieve what was left and found that the door had been locked. It took me 30 seconds to retrieve what was in the room once I found someone who could let me in.
After my stay I received an email from the resort asking for feedback and positive reviews on various social media platforms. I wrote to them about the high pitched annoying sound. This is the reply I received:
Hi David,
Thank you for staying with us! This is the first I'm hearing of that noise, but I will investigate that asap. I'm sorry if it caused you any frustration!
Hope to have you again!
Best,
Christopher
Christopher is one of the owners. I didn't feel like channeling my inner Karen when I was there so I didn't demand to speak to the owner. No one ever offered that I switch rooms, although there were plenty available. No offer of a discount for my room, or for a future stay.
As someone in the hospitality business, how would you have responded?
OK now I have vented. I maybe wouldn't have thought to write to you, but when I got back to Berkeley I saw a man in the grocery store with a tee shirt that said: "Tops have feelings too." Somehow that made me think of you.
Hope you are enjoying springtime in Bournemouth. I plan to visit you on my next trip to England, likely in 2027.

JB ANSWERS:_

It is not my place to find fault with another gay venue as we are all ' in this together' - regardless of where we are or what kind of venue we offer - and we owners of gay venues know how damned cussed awkward some gay men can be and this absolutely spoils it for everyone.
Dealing with LGBT is VERY HARD WORK. ;-
Also: Not a single word of praise for the venue. Nothing about the splendid grounds, wonderful pool, the bar, the food, how comfy the bed was, and all you talk about is how bad the venue was and how much sex you had and you seem to forget that you are an old fart as well, you say you are older than me and I am 71, so who the hell are you to complain about the other visitors when you are no better, no younger and probably no better looking... You complain about there being no eye candy, and how much eye candy did you add to the proceedings ? I get sick of delusional old men complaining and not realizing they are the exact thing they are complaining about - fat bald old men.
Absolutely nothing wrong with that, but for God's sake - BE REAL ABOUT YOUR OWN SELF WORTH AND STOP BEING DELUSIONAL.
.

It may be a gay mens venue but it is also - A BUSINESS - and will run with business rules and so forth and so many gay people assume because it's gay ( family ) they expect certain things that are simply not available and many take advantage, so as a venue, they have to have strict rules on Check IN and Check OUT etc. and that really is up to you to make sure you are on time. You were responsible for leaving your things in your room - so not sure how the venue was at fault here - they have work to do - rooms to prepare - laundry to do, new guests expected, and if you turned up to Check In and your room was not ready - you'd complain.
Not sure how you intended getting back into your room if you left the room key IN THE ROOM, as you state, making the room look EMPTY OF GUESTS - and you need to take responsibility for this. Assuming staff to ' just know' you were still around,' is rather dumb, especially to complain to me about it afterwards. Sorry Babes, you get no sympathy from me on this issue.
As for the room noise - If the venue was quiet they could have moved you into a different room. Did you ask ? Sounds as if you didn't. I am sure they would have moved you had you asked but no one is going to go to a lot of extra work if they don't have to. Not sure why they didn't and I find it hard that ' the noise' was not known about beforehand. I know every sound and creak Hamilton Hall makes...
How much was the king size room ? All you have done is find fault and not shared any positives about your room.
Old fat men - is common at all gay resorts. DO NOT expect young hung and full of cum guys - as just like yourself - you may complain there is no young hung toddy to be had, while YOU are not the young hung toddy either and your beer belly, bald patch and signs of old age are not what YOU want but is what YOU are offering. I am always ASTOUNDED BY THE GALL of so many old farts who complain when young hung cuties do not want them sexually and the reasons are so clear it beggars belief.
When you check yourself out in the mirror, it pays to be realistic and realise that any young guy is more than likely not into old men - and being realistic about this helps. Don't be delusional. I have no idea what you look like but I have heard this same thing so many times.

Back to the hotel: Did you leave a tip. Did you leave anything ?
If you did not, then you have no right to complain as America is the land of tipping AS YOU KNOW - and any hotel, gay or straight, cannot read the customers mind and know when things are not right if you hide the Karen inside and besides, why act like a Karen, why not just be polite with your comments and understanding and accepting of what comes. Do not blame the hotel when you did not mention it and as Judge Judy states.
'If you eat the steak, do not complain afterwards.'

If you find anything on this web site offensive, please know, I don't give a shit. If you choose, and it IS a choice, to be offended, then my work here is done. If I have made you think. If I have made you stop. If I have made you re consider. If I have made you - maybe - angry - and if that actually got your blood pumping and your mind racing, then that is good. It's time to wake up from the dream. It's time to face reality. The here and now is what is important and being the best yiou can be. So - why settle for second best - and Im talking about your Self. Be the best you can be.
You make, and take, from the news that which you wish to see and hear. You observe what you want and comment of things that affect you personally. If you don't like something, do not read it and move on but do not shy away from what IS going on in the world of which - you are a part. World news is so easy to find these days and differing opinions not hard to find. Having an opinion is vital and being a ' don't care' person helps no one. So open your mind - open your heart - open your awareness and ALWAYS be open to new ideas.
