How does the world view the USA ?

SCROLL DOWN FOR JOHN BELLAMY'S COMMENTS
The United States of America is a great nation, and for decades, for centuries, other countries have looked to us for inspiration, for a sense of hope — for a sense of what it is possible to achieve. Countries that wanted to democratize, to get rid of the power and privilege held onto by old aristocracies, that wanted to replace corruption with honesty and transparency and justice, that wanted to counter Fascism and ideological and religious oppression — they looked to us.

Now, our allies in Europe are looking for ways to fill the void left by our abdication of our position of leadership in the world. Who will stand up to Putin if he gobbles the rest of Ukraine? Who will lead NATO, if not the US? Now, China is stepping in as the leader in the fight against global climate change, since America is suddenly being run by people who believe, or pretend to believe, that science isn’t real.
China will make huge amounts of money, and possibly save the world, building better and better solar panels. That could have been us. But the Trump administration tells us that coal is the future. China is also filling in the gap we left on trade, since we are suddenly going isolationist.

It’s sad to see this happen. It’s a self-inflicted wound. It has happened before — under Reagan and George H.W. Bush to some extent, and far more under George W. Bush. Republicans, when they take power, believe that “might makes right,” rather than that truth, justice and the courage of our convictions make us right and keep us strong and relevant. Republicans trash international institutions and safeguards against atrocities and instability that we helped to create and maintain after World War II (the United Nations, the Geneva Conventions) which have thus far prevented another world war and which have allowed the world to progress to where we are now — or where we were just before Trump took office.
This Republican pivot away from our core values is happening on a much larger scale now, and much more rapidly, than ever before. It’s ironic that Trump shouts about making America “great again” when he is the person destroying our national greatness that we had, all along, until his ascendancy.
There's more below...

When they asked Trump how he would make America great again, right after the election, he said we’d be great again because he’d tell us we were great again. And because he’d… have big military parades, he said, and put lots of weapons on display.
That is literally how his “very good brain” works — that is his conception of American greatness. It’s not that far removed from Kim Jong Un’s conception of North Korean greatness

But US exceptionalism and greatness, as understood by Obama and so many presidents before him, was not based on the size of our arsenal. It was based on ideals and values that we saw our country as embodying, and that others around the world saw us as embodying. And with the advent of Trump, all of that has been trashed.

John Bellamy Adds:
Personally, I have never seen or witnessed anything more pathetic than tRrump putting out these posters of himself as Superman, or the Pope, and I am absolutely gobsmacked he does this and outraged he has the gall to put himself first above and beyond anything and anyone else except Putin - of whom I believe Trump is genuinely scared as he has met someone he cannot bully - tRump really is destroying the USA.

Anything and everything that is good about the USA, tRump is dismanteling and through this destruction, and where tens of thousands of highly trained staff are being fired ' on the spot' for no reason other than tRrump wants to close down all the various departments that help the people, not just in America but overseas as well, and these closures are destroying America from within and partly to replace these staff with staff loyal to tRump.
Not one single country is asking for a deal.
Not one single country is calling to apologise.
Not one single country is looking to do business with America under tRump.

tRump lies that over 200 countries have been in touch even though there are not even 200 countries on the planet. Not one wants to do business with tRump.
No one respects him except some within his MAGA deluded fan base and the world sees this man for what he is, and yet the legal system in the USA seem hell bent on doing nothing to truly make America great again by getting rid of this dictator and putting America into reverse gear and learn to apologise to the world and move forward but sadly, even if this was to happen,
NO ONE WILL EVER TRUSTS AMERICA AGAIN.
AMERICA HAS LOST IT COMPLETELY.

America will never regain its superiority ever again and where the world will now move on leaving America behind. Shame for all the millions of decent hard working good American people who have had their country destroyed by the MAGA B.S. and Trump. Absolutely destroyed and yet these dumb shit MAGA crowd just cannot see beyond thinking tRump is the next Jesus, whereas the rest of the world sees him as THE ANTICHRIST.

Oh dear, here we go again, another dumb question.
Here’s the question that troubles me: are these questions genuine ?

Normally I’d like to dismiss them as the kind of
stuff trolls will inflict; but then I remember the questioner might be just another American - God help us.
On the presumption that the questioner is not an algorithm/bot/troll/whatever but yet another American fuckwit, here’s the answer:
The town of Boston ( UK ) is so old that no one knows for sure how old it is. But it’s probably less than 1,000 years. This makes it at least 400 years older than the US town of the same.
The original settlement is thought - no one knows for sure - to have got its modern name from St. Botolph’s Church. “Botolph’s Town………Botolphston………Boston” you see.
You can see it in this photo. Pretty, isn’t it.
The foundations were laid around 1450 and the building itself was completed around 1520. About 250 years before the US of A became a country.
I sometimes think that the worst thing that ever happened to America is not Trump but the Internet. Now at last the world is waking up to what a bunch of dumb twats most Americans actually are. Absolute dumb twats.
P.S. I feel ashamed that, in a moment of thoughtlessness, I insulted all Americans. My friends, I am well aware that not all of you are ignorant fools, and that has to be said. You have my apologies. Our problem - yours and ours - is that so many of your countrymen are.
Including the President.

AI Overview
Many towns in the US share names with towns in the UK. This is because the US was colonized by British settlers who often named their new settlements after places they knew from home. Examples of US towns named after UK towns include:
How about NEW ENGLAND AND NEW YOUK FOR A START.
Birmingham, Alabama: (after Birmingham, England)
Chester, Pennsylvania: (after Chester, England)
Dover, Delaware: (after Dover, England)
Greenwich, Connecticut: (after Greenwich, England)
Lancaster, Pennsylvania: (after Lancaster, England)
Manchester, New Hampshire: (after Manchester, England)
Northumberland, Pennsylvania: (after Northumberland, England)
York, Pennsylvania: (after York, England)
Boston, Massachusetts: (after Boston, Lincolnshire, England)
London, Ohio: (after London, England)
Plymouth, Massachusetts: (after Plymouth, England)
Newcastle, Delaware: (after Newcastle upon Tyne, England)
Oxford, Maine: (after Oxford, England)
Cambridge, Massachusetts: (after Cambridge, England)
Richmond, Virginia: (after the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames)
Baltimore, Maryland: (after Baltimore, County Cork, Ireland)
Portland, Oregon: (after the Isle of Portland, England)
If you are one of the dumb Americans who assumes the world evolves totally around the USA - then you are part of the global problem of general ignorance that helps no one. Least of all yourselves. Being so dumb shows a lack of education, lack of common sense and lack of wanting to learn about other cultures etc. American, under these people, is a danger to us all.
I desperatey feel for all the good Americans of which I lived amongst and befriended many and these are the ones who are suffering in their own country under Trump.
