So "America First" is something those folks can understand. Except that they don't, because it has deep roots in the fascism of the 1930s. I don't really mind if someone is ignorant. But combine stupidity with arrogance, especially about world affairs, history, and basics of geography, and you have the ugly American. Too many of those around, although the approval ratings for our gilded orange turd in the White House are now in the mid 30s. So who knows.
At least one American, the Pope, has decided it's time to speak up. But I won't get started on the Catholic Church. I saw another tee shirt recently that I would have purchased if the store had been open: It said, "Embrace Polytheism. Why have just one imaginary friend?"

It is the 22nd UK police force to say sorry for past homophobic policies.
In a letter to the Peter Tatchell Foundation, Acting Chief Constable Becky Riggs expressed “sincere regret” and a “heartfelt apology” for the way laws criminalising homosexuality were enforced. She recognised that, while officers were expected to uphold the law, “some individuals in policing acted in ways that went beyond what the law required and caused harm.”
She was responding to an appeal from the Peter Tatchell Foundation’s “Apologise now!” campaign.

On Tuesday 31 March, Christopher Joell-Deshields was fired from his role as the boss of Pride in London, London’s biggest LGBT event and one of the largest pride events in the world. He had been under investigation since September 2025, with Pride in London ultimately determining that their former leader had presided over a “culture of bullying”. In addition, the 55 year old was accused of having siphoned off over £7,000 of vouchers intended for volunteers in order to purchase luxury colognes and Apple AirPods for himself.

Human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell, aged 74, has been bailed “under investigation” to attend Charing Cross police station at 1pm on 1 March. His bail condition bans him from attending any Palestine protest.
“Met Police seem to be acting under pressure from a foreign regime, the Israeli government, and from Netanyahu supporters in the UK. They want to restrict criticism of Israel’s genocide and suppress support for the right of Palestinians to resist occupation,” he said.

The Supreme Court of Montana ruled on Tuesday that trans residents of the state have a right to update their legal documents to accurately reflect their genders.
“Transgender discrimination is, by its very nature, sex discrimination,” Justice Laurie McKinnon wrote in the court’s decision. “Government issued identification documents are necessary to access public life. When they do not accurately reflect a person’s sexual identity, the transgender Montanan is prevented, based on their sex, from obtaining the same attributes of public life that a cisgender Montanan may obtain. Hence, the inability of transgender Montanans to receive government-issued identification documents accurately reflecting their gender identity is fundamentally about the nature of sex and suspect class discrimination.”
