In 1969, a bank teller stole $215,000 from his own bank and vanished. He lived as Thomas Randele for 51 years, never caught. On his deathbed in 2021, he confessed to his family and begged his daughter to keep it secret. She made a podcast.

Theodore John Conrad, a 20-year-old bank teller in Cleveland, Ohio, walked out of his bank with $215,000 in cash, equivalent to more than $1.8 million today, and disappeared. Inspired in part by the film The Thomas Crown Affair, Conrad carefully planned the theft and evaded authorities by assuming a new identity: Thomas Randele.

For more than five decades, he lived an apparently ordinary life. He married, raised a family, worked as a golf professional and car salesman, and avoided the mistakes that often lead fugitives to capture. Despite being one of the longest-running unresolved bank theft cases in U.S. history, he was never arrested.

In 2021, as he was dying of lung cancer, Conrad confessed his true identity to his family. Shortly afterward, U.S. Marshals confirmed that Thomas Randele and Theodore Conrad were the same person, finally closing a case that had remained open for 52 years.

The story gained renewed attention when Conrad's daughter, Ashley Randele, shared the family secret through the podcast Smoke Screen: My Fugitive Dad.

Conrad successfully evaded capture longer than many notorious fugitives. When authorities finally identified him in 2021, he had been living under his assumed identity for over twice as long as he had lived under his real name.

A lion thought he was the king of the zoo,

Until an orange cat cleared up who was really in charge.

In Georgia, a zoo went viral after a lion exhibit added a glass viewing box where visitors could step inside and watch the lion up close.

The lion made sure everyone knew whose exhibit it was.

He would roar, scratch at the glass, and stare people down like they were prey. Most visitors backed away the second he got close, and every time they did, he seemed to act even bigger.

However, an orange cat wandered into the glass box and didn’t get the memo.

At first, the lion looked curious, studying the tiny cat like he couldn’t understand why it wasn’t running. But when he got too close, the orange cat snapped, hissed, and smacked the glass right in front of his face. The lion immediately lowered his head. The cat didn’t move.

Visitors stood there shocked as the same lion that had been scaring grown adults suddenly backed down in front of a house cat with no fear at all.

Some people said the lion was scared. Others said the cat simply earned his respect. Either way, the orange cat walked in like a visitor, and left like he owned the exhibit.

As Flaviane Carvalho was about to finish her shift, a family of four was sitting at her desk. She immediately sensed that something was "off" about their behavior.

As a mother of a teenager, Flaviane's eyes were drawn to the 11-year-old boy who was sitting hunched over the table.

His eyes were downcast, and his family wouldn't let him eat or drink.

Flaviane asked if there were any problems with the food, but they replied that the child would eat at home.

With warning signs ringing in her head, Flaviane looked closer.

The boy had bruises, deep cuts, and scratches under his hood, hat, and face mask.

Flaviane thought quickly, jotted down a short note, and hid it behind the child's parents, making sure they wouldn't see it.

At first, the boy simply nodded, but Flaviane quickly showed him a message.

"Do you need help?"

With just a slight nod, she got the information she needed.

"I will never forget the feeling I had when I saw that boy. I just had this feeling that something was wrong! He was scared, and so was I," Flaviane said.

She told her supervisor what was happening and then called 911. When the police arrived, they told Flaviane, "She probably saved at least one life that night," said Police Chief Orlando Rollon.

"If she hadn't intervened, this could have turned into a murder case," he added.

"The lesson we learned is to address something when you feel it's wrong...that's how one child's life was saved. That night, she saved at least one life."

In reality, the boy was suffering terrible abuse from his stepfather, Timothy Wilson II.

He was covered in bruises from head to toe, and had lost about 10 kilograms in weight because he was often deprived of food as punishment.

As the thugs turned around, they splashed water from a puddle onto the elderly woman, but they didn't notice the moose behind her.

The woman patiently waited for the rain to stop, carefully avoiding getting wet as she walked along the side of the road.

At that moment, a car carrying young men made a sharp U-turn across a puddle, splashing dirty water onto the woman's clothes and face.

The men ran away laughing. However, the moose that was behind the woman had seen the whole thing.

Before anyone could react, the moose chased the car, pursuing it for blocks. The moose caught up to the driver when he got stuck at a red light.

According to witnesses, the moose kicked the car, shattering the windows and startling the people inside, before speeding away with the car covered in broken glass and dents in the doors.

Afterward, the police stopped the car and issued the driver a ticket for dangerous driving and driving with a broken window.

The men tried to blame the moose, but the police officers showed little sympathy.

For five years, a dog greeted the mailman with his tennis ball,

until one day, his owner came out holding it

instead.

In 2019, a new mailman started delivering in the neighborhood and quickly learned there was one house he always looked forward to.

Because of the dog waiting by the front gate.

At first, the mailman gave him small treats just to win him over, but over time, the dog stopped treating him like a stranger. While other dogs barked from behind fences, this one waited gently, tail wagging, like he knew exactly what time his friend was supposed to arrive.

Eventually, the routine became theirs.

The mailman would walk up, give him a treat, pet his head, and the dog would run to grab his favorite tennis ball, proudly dropping it near the gate like he wanted to play before the man moved on.

On sick days when he couldn’t work, the other mailmen who cover his route said the dog never acted the same with them. He stayed back, watched quietly, and waited for the one person he had chosen.

For five years, that little routine never changed.

Until one morning, the mailman reached the house and the dog wasn’t there.

Instead, the owner came outside holding the same worn tennis ball and told him the dog had passed away from old age.

He said seeing the mailman had become his dog’s favorite part of the day, and before putting the ball away, he wanted the mailman to have it.

The mailman stood there crying while the owner stayed beside him in silence.

The doorbell rant this morning.

It was a surprise waiting for me when I opened the door.

Barbra Streisand was standing there with James ( hubby ) behind her and she asked ( demanded ) I be in her next epic film with her. She's been after me for years but, I have to say no as my mind, body and soul are some pleace else these days. Sorry Babs, but it's a no no.

So she changed tract and wants to do an album of duets with me but no Babs, not today. I wouldn't want to show her up... ha ha She left saying her career was over as this was her last chance at greatness and my refusal had crushed her.

I opened the door to hear the song ' Someones knocking at my door.' and there was this film crew the other side with a cheque from Post Code Lottery for half a million I had won. It was all fun and laughter, tears and joy. Now what was I going to do with all that lovely money.

Actually, I opened the door and it was the postman with the usual bills. Elecric, gas, phone, Insurance, water - and so the bills just keep coming. No Babs, No Post Code Lottery, just a dreary wet day and bills. But it could be worse. My health today is good, The hotel is full, I need nothing from the shops, so I shall finnish this, have a bite of lunch and then go sit and relax for a couple of hour and maybe watch YouTube and then get dinner ready later and today I am doing Turkey Schnitzel with home made hash browns and a garlic and mushroom sauce... veg and salad and stuff. There is a cake baking as I type this - for pudding... today I made a ginger and lemon moist cake... and I shall serve it with Creme Anglais ( custard to you and I ) .

And how was your fantasy morning and the reality ?

You make, and take, from the news that which you wish to see and hear. You observe what you want and comment of things that affect you personally. If you don't like something, do not read it and move on but do not shy away from what IS going on in the world of which - you are a part. World news is so easy to find these days and differing opinions not hard to find. Having an opinion is vital and being a ' don't care' person helps no one. So open your mind - open your heart - open your awareness and ALWAYS be open to new ideas.
