Why are Americans asking such dumb ass questions, Surely they are not that stupid.

Just the question itself makes me aware how so many Americans assume the good old US of A is financially propping up the rest of the world and how we are bleeding it dry and the truth - well, the truth is very different and it is questionable that so many Americans are that uneducated - that dumb to the truth and how easily led they are by a government lying to them and twisiting the truth to suit itself all the time.

What is the American isolationism?

Isolationists advocated non-involvement in European and Asian conflicts and non-entanglement in international politics. Although the United States took measures to avoid political and military conflicts across the oceans, it continued to expand economically and protect its interests in Latin America. Trouble is, in recent decades, America has done nothing BUT push its nose into global affairs IF AND WHEN IT SUITS THEM as if a country has oil or gas then it's war, and if it has nothng to benefit the USA, it is abandoned to its own devices.

Isolationism currently does not mean AMERICA FIRST at all, but TRUMP FIRST.

Your question is a perfectly reasonable one for someone to ask from your side of the pond and it is a great pity that you either fell asleep during your history classes or did not attend or have them.

There is no question that the USA is the most powerful military at present and you spend unimaginable (to me at least) amounts of taxpayers money to stay that way.

You may not know this but this position was once held by the U.K. Yes it is hard to believe that such a tiny blot on the surface of the globe was once the most powerful too, for several centuries.

Now it is true that we flexed our muscles and waved our swords around more than we should have but we also used our power to protect our friends when they were being attacked, and believe me it was a far more difficult task in previous years than it is nowadays but we took our promises seriously, as to not do so would have made matters far, far worse.

Look at the military expansion of Japan and Germany during the early part of the last century and you can (should) see why allowing nations to push their way around other people’s countries without drawing a line in the sand is a singularly bad idea and, in the end, will eventually be more costly and be a far worse conflict for all. Look at how Russia just took control of half of Europe when they thought other countries (rightly) didn’t have the stomach for more fighting and military spending and ending up spending far more over the years to stop the falling ‘dominoes’.

Because American isolationism lacked the foresight to see or care about what was happening elsewhere you ended up with Pearl Harbour and the terrible pacific military campaign and still ended up having to go into Europe to help defeat the nasties waging war on defenceless civilians because of the pact between Japan and Germany.

If you had said ‘Whoa there fellows that is not a good thing you’re doing,’ some three or so years earlier think how many lives may have been saved and money too, American money and lives too not just European or Asian or African and those from Australia and New Zealand.

The USA has not been bled dry by Europe and your country has earned billions of dollars on the sales of arms, enabling American industries to get very wealthy and develop ever more powerful weapons in which to help keep the world from global conflict and you now have thousands of tanks, aircraft and guns being stored in expensive arsenals and facilities slowly rusting away because they are no longer as good as the modern versions. Who is going to make an offer to take them off your hands now? Who will trust the USA to keep their word in the future? Who will keep your military manufacturers expanding their bank balances in the future? All because your pathetic excuse of a president cannot see beyond his nose at the bigger picture.

Do you seriously believe that Putin and his followers will stop at Ukraine? Do you not see that China may see this as a green light to advance their own expansionist policies in South America and Africa and in the middle east and specifically in Taiwan? Will America just stand aside if Iran decides to expand its borders? Can you not see that it is far more than about one country?

So go ahead and enjoy your isolationism and inflation producing tariffs whilst your president releases all his convicted felon friends from your gaols and sends innocent people to foreign hell-holes in between rounds of golf and laughable social media pronouncements whilst making a mockery or your sacrosanct constitution and its amendments.

See what you think when he announces his law allowing a third term and mass bans on people standing against him and see what you think when world events spiral out of control making the build up to the Second World War and the years of the Cold War seem like a picnic.

Then pray it was all a bad dream.

YES, but the reverse is also true and frankly the tariffs hurt the USA more than China.

China has been preparing for a ecnomic showdown with the US, America has not. And their leadership is better and more ruthless than ours.

Reasons for this:-

  1. China has managed to secure goods like beef and soy from other nations while American Farmers have no other markets to sell the products to.

  2. Given the fact that most manufactuing is done in China, you’ll soon see empty shelves in America. The Chinese repeated said they dont care, again they have other markets to sell to like the TPP, and frankly CHinese people are used to hardship. When Americans can no longer find their cheap diapers on Amazon people are going to freakout.

  3. Our factories import raw materials and parts from China. If we are unable to secure those goods OUR factories will close too. Changing suppliers is not easy, cheap, or quick.

  4. SOMETHING TO LIGHTEN THE MOOD

The Angel in the picture is thinking ' If he touches me with that short fat finger of his, I'm snapping it backwards till he screams.'

Not very Godly, but then, even God would agree with such an action against that short fat finger.

  1. Donald Trump dies and goes to heaven (don't laugh, it's just a joke). He's standing in a room with clocks all over the place. He turns and asks the angel that he's standing next to what the clocks are for. The angel says that they are all presidential clocks, representing the number of times a president has lied. Trump started looking around, pointed to a clock, and asked the angel, “Whose clock was that one?”. The angel says,

  2. “That clock was George Washington’s clock, but it never moved; he never told a lie.” Trump then continues to look around and points at a different clock, asking whose clock that one was. The angel replies,

  3. “That was Abraham Lincoln's clock; it only moved twice.” Trump starts looking all over the place and then asks the angel, “where is my clock?”

  4. The angel replies, “your clock is in God's office, he is using it as a ceiling fan!”

  5. ----------------------------

The asker of this question acts like they think that Canada isn’t a Sovereign Nation. You act like we in the US own the rest of the world in some sort of vassalage.

What gives the US the right to enact tariffs?

What gives the US the right to effectively suspend a trade agreement negotiated by the very man who is now saying it’s “unfair”?

I should point out that Trump also said that whoever negotiated that deal didn’t do a very good job… but MAGAS don’t really seem to care much about their very old guy in the White House showing signs of dementia…

I’m curious… if you were sitting in a jury box and a woman was on trial for gouging out the eyes of the man who was in the act of raping her, would you convict her of assault?

I’m curious… if you were sitting in a jury box and a man was on trial for shooting an armed home invasion robber, would you convict him of murder?

I’m curious… if after Japan sank our ships in Pearl Harbor, if we should have just shrugged our shoulders and taken it on the chin…

I’m curious… if after 9/11 we just said “oh, well not much we can do about that”, how would you have felt?

Most reasonable people would agree that in those cases, retaliation may be called for. When our President is making up numbers to justify attacking every single one of our ALLIES financially (but not Russia or the DPRK), expect that the world is probably going to retaliate.

I’m also wondering who you will be blaming when the price of a LOT of stuff you probably buy goes up a lot (like a lot more than the inflation you blamed on Biden while the US actually had the lowest inflation of any country at the time)? Will you rationalize it away, or will you happily pay the hidden tax that Trump is putting on nearly everything so Elon Musk can pay even less taxes than he is now?

What, actually, gives the USA the right to even imagine, for one brief moment, that they can just demand to take over another country and make demands of it - out of the blue - where that other country is completely independant and the USA relies on it HEAVILY for all sports of trade it now is penalising ITSELF WITH TARIFFS that will destroy American business, while Canadea will simply find markets elsewhere, and GOOD FOR THEM FOR DOING SO.
