Saudi Arabia,
one of trump's coziest allies, is apparently getting fed up too.
Trump announced his "Project Freedom" operation on Truth Social, a naval plan to escort commercial ships through the Iranian-blockaded Strait of Hormuz. Saudi Arabia responded by suspending U.S. military access to its bases and airspace, and a subsequent phone call between trump and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman failed to resolve it. Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait were all similarly blindsided, with trump not even calling Qatar's emir until the operation was already underway, and the U.S. not coordinating with Oman until after the announcement was made. All of this is happening under the technical umbrella of a ceasefire, during which the U.S. and Iranian militaries have been actively trading shots, even as trump administration officials insist everything is fine.
It’s crazy because trump has been buddying up to the Saudis for quite some time. Jared Kushner's private equity firm secured a $2 billion investment from a Saudi sovereign wealth fund controlled by MBS, after the crown prince overruled objections from his own fund's advisers. That same Saudi wealth fund has been the backbone of LIV Golf, a tour that trump's properties have hosted and profited from handsomely.
But that friendship is unraveling fast. The Saudis have now pulled their funding from LIV Golf entirely, stepping back from the whole sports diplomacy experiment, even as LIV is somehow still teeing off at Trump National in Virginia this week. And this is starting to feel like a very familiar pattern. trump spent years alienating Canada, treating NATO allies like freeloaders, and turning Europe into a continent quietly making plans for a post-American world. Now he is running the same playbook in the Middle East, pushing away the Gulf states that host our bases and share our intelligence. Europe pushed back loudly. The Saudis, Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman are doing it more quietly, through blocked airspace and pulled funding and unanswered phone calls. Different style, same result.
NATO means North American Treaty Obligations which means the USA owns NATO and other so called allies have an obligation to do what we say. Considering they ignored our orders in the Iran war (federal offense) should we stop all food aid to Europe?
Stop drinking the poisonous Kool Aid that Trump is giving you. NATO means North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The USA doesn't own or control NATO. The USA is one of 32 countries that are members of the organization. The Iran war was a war of choice by Trump. Other nations have no obligation to do what the USA says and no obligation to help in the war the USA started. Secondly, you called ignoring our orders a “federal offense”. That's laughable. One, they don't have to obey your “orders” or any requests by your government. Two, you can't charge a foreign country with a criminal offense like that. As to your stupid solution, whom in Europe does the USA provide food aid to? No one, that's who. Like I said, stop drinking the Trump Kool Aid.
Trump has apparently decided that Europe is now irrelevant as it is excluded from his proposed C-5 group. How should we interpret that?
Let’s look at this purely from a business perspective. It appears that Trump has decided that Russia is the dominate power in Europe and we’re going to partner with them over the EU. It looks like he’s setting things up for an exit from NATO. So we’re trading the EU for Russia? What does that mean?
Well, commerce between the EU and the US totals over a trillion dollars annually whereas our best years of trade with Russia generated around $10 to $15 billion. And now the Russian economy is an absolute wreck, it will take years of recovery just to get up off the floor. Is there any art in that deal? From a business perspective this makes no sense whatsoever.
One way to interpret all this is that Putin does indeed have something on Trump
Britain lost 457 troops in Afghanistan in aid of the US occupation. Germany lost 59 and France lost 86. Trump said European troops “stayed a little back” from the front lines in Afghanistan.
So fuck that guy.
Trump's Iran screw-up has been caused by him ripping up Obama's Iran deal which assured Iran wouldn't attempt to make nukes because it would be economic suicide if they did. Trump binned the agreement solely because it was Obama's and because Trump is a churlish man-baby. His Iran war screw-up is a result of his petty Iran agreement screw-up. China won't help because you don't interrupt an enemy when they are screwing up.
The US wasn't under threat so the war is illegal under international law. The US was until very recently in negotiations with Iran which looks a lot like perfidy — a war crime. Hegseth has said an Iranian surrender wouldn't be honoured — just saying that is a war crime. Historically, the US has gone to the UN to get support and at least acquiescence for international military action but these days they think they don't need to bother which puts the US firmly on their own.
After his Afghanistan insult Trump continued “I’ve always said, ‘Will they be there, if we ever needed them?’”. When the US is carrying out an illegal war without allies (by design) because Trump is screwing up trying to fix his previous screw-up which he made because he behaves like a toddler?
If other countries send ships to secure the Strait of Hormuz it won't be on Trump's say-so it will be because it is in the interest of their countries’ populations to sort out the results of Trump's incompetence.
With that, Trump has effectively destroyed the US arms industry.
Not withstanding that the ‘paper dome’ weapons systems installed in the Gulf states failed and those host countries are reevaluating their ‘security arrangements’.Trump has smoked all NATO orders. He has single handedly killed America. Well fuckin’ done.
You make, and take, from the news that which you wish to see and hear. You observe what you want and comment of things that affect you personally. If you don't like something, do not read it and move on but do not shy away from what IS going on in the world of which - you are a part. World news is so easy to find these days and differing opinions not hard to find. Having an opinion is vital and being a ' don't care' person helps no one. So open your mind - open your heart - open your awareness and ALWAYS be open to new ideas.
