He's behind you ..... brief history of panto

NAKED MEN - SCROLL DOWN -

UK pantomime evolved from Italian commedia dell'arte and 17th-century masques, becoming a distinct Christmas tradition featuring slapstick, music, audience participation, fairy tales, cross-dressing (Dame, Principal Boy), and iconic characters like Harlequin, flourishing in the Victorian era with elaborate shows and topical humour, cementing its place as a unique, family-friendly festive staple with enduring conventions.

DRAG - DRESSED ROUGHLY AS GIRLL

Pantomome is often an excuse for second rate B List entertainers to work through the winter months when work is lean. It also gives work to the less well known actors and like many game shows, is the only work many can actually get.

Why is pantomime associated with Christmas ?

It was a while later in the 1750's that pantomimes became associated with Christmas entertainment, thanks mainly to David Garrick. Although he disliked the genre he was not averse to the money it brought in and mounted a special pantomime each Christmas.

What are the three rules of pantomime ?

The three most important rules to remember about using pantomime effectively onstage are: simplicity, consistency, and the “bump.” First, keep it simple. Complicated movements are confusing. Don't “muddy the air” with meaningless movements.

How did pantomime get its name ?

The word pantomime comes from Greek (pantomimos) and Latin (pantomimus), meaning "imitator of all," combining panto ("all") and mimos ("imitator/actor"). It originally referred to ancient Roman actors who performed stories entirely through gesture, with a single performer taking on all roles. The term entered English around the 1610s from French or Latin, describing a mime or silent actor

Why do pantomimes have dames ?

The Pantomime Dame is considered a cornerstone of British theatre culture. Within the history of the theatre, men dressing as women was not considered a comment on sexuality but as a necessity owing to the fact that women weren't allowed on stage.

What are the five stock characters in a pantomime ?

Pantomime stock characters include: the Evil Villain, the Damsel in Distress, the Hero, The Principle Boy (a male character played by a female), and the Pantomime Dame (a female character played by a male).

What is the purpose of a pantomime ?

Pantomime (/ˈpæntəˌmaɪm/; informally panto) is a type of musical comedy stage production designed for family entertainment, generally combining broad and topical humour and cross-dressing actors with a story more or less based on a well-known fairy tale, fable or folk tale.

ree

There are approximately 260 professional pantomime productions staged annually across the UK, though the exact number fluctuates yearly with the festive season, with popular choices like Cinderella and Jack and the Beanstalk leading the charge in many theatres

What's the difference between a pantomime and a musical?

The main difference is that a musical focuses on a cohesive story told through original songs, while a British pantomime (panto) is a comedic, interactive Christmas show using familiar fairy tales, audience participation (booing, "He's behind you!"), cross-dressing (Dame/Principal Boy), pop songs, slapstick, and breaking the fourth wall, aiming for broad family fun rather than deep narrative. Pantos are rooted in tradition, music hall, and commedia dell'arte, blending comedy and spectacle for audience involvement, whereas musicals are generally more dramatic and story-driven, even when they include comedy.

'He's behind you .....'

I was never into butts. I was more a cock man. I was, after all, passive.

Then somone said ' If I had a dick the size of yours, I'd damned well use it.'

So I tried being a top and found that -

1) I thoroughly enjoyed being a top.

2) Bottoms LOVED my dick.

3) Because I had been passive, I knew what the arse wanted and how to pleasure it.

4) With low hanging big balls as well, I could ball fuck and sometimes,

cock and ball fuck all at the same time - which became my Party Piece...

5) Most hung men don't have much of a clue how to fuck.

There is nothing better than a nice arse.

( well - maybe a big lottery win...)
