Keep Your Home Cool

Block the sun: Close your curtains and blinds during the day, especially on sun-facing windows. Consider blackout curtains or reflective window film if the heat is intense.

Ventilate strategically: Keep windows and doors closed while it is hotter outside than inside. Open windows on opposite sides of the house during the early morning or late evening to create cross-ventilation.

Limit appliance use: Avoid using the oven or stove during the hottest hours. Opt for cold foods like salads and sandwiches, or use an air fryer.

Create a DIY air conditioner: Place a bowl of ice or frozen water bottles in front of a standing fan. The ice encourages evaporation, blowing a cooler breeze into the room.

Sleep Comfortably on Hot Nights

Cool your sheets: Place your pillowcases or bed sheets in the freezer for 15–20 minutes before bedtime for immediate relief.

Sleep low: Because heat rises, move to the lowest level of your home. ( That's why my dog sleeps on the floor in this weather - it's cooler down there )

Optimize your bedding: Switch to thin, cotton, or bamboo sheets and make sure you aren't using heavy synthetic duvets.

Turn off electronics: Unplug all electronics and standby appliances in the bedroom, as even standby modes generate ambient heat

Should I open windows at night in heatwave?

Open your windows at night to let cooler air flush out accumulated daytime heat. Keep them firmly shut if the outside air is hotter than inside your room, or if high humidity makes things feel worse.

To maximize the chill, create a cross-breeze by opening windows on opposite sides of the house, and remember to close and cover them completely in the morning.

Does putting aluminum foil on windows keep the heat out?

Yes, aluminum foil on windows significantly reduces heat by reflecting up to 97% of the sun's radiant energy before it enters your home. However, placing it incorrectly can trap heat and shatter the glass, and it will completely block out all natural light

Does sitting in front of the fridge with the door open cool the house down. No it does not and in fact, by leaving the friege door open leaks all the coolness inside the fridge out - and the motor now has to work over time to maintain - or try to maintain, a coolness dictated by the fridges internal sensor and with the door open, more power will be used, more motor working overtime and you actually HEAT UP THE AREA AND DO NOT COOL IT DOWN and this is detrimental to your aims.

SLAP ON THE SUN CREAM

Does a cool face flannel help Yes, a cool wet face cloth used to wipe yourelf down saves jumping in the shower 5 times day - WASTING WATER - when a cool flannel does the trick beautifully.

Why does my appertite change in the summer

In hot weather, your body naturally suppresses hunger to avoid overheating and to prioritize its cooling mechanisms. Eating and digesting food generates internal metabolic heat—a process called diet-induced thermogenesis—so your brain turns down your appetite to prevent your core temperature from rising.

Several key biological factors explain why this happens:

  • The Thermic Effect of Food: For every 1,000 calories you consume, about 75% is converted into usable energy, while the rest dissipates as heat. Because the body is already working overtime to stay cool, it discourages eating to prevent adding more internal heat.

  • Shifting Blood Flow: To shed excess heat, your body directs warm blood away from your internal organs and toward the skin’s surface. This means less blood is available in the digestive tract, slowing down digestion and naturally reducing your desire to eat.

  • Prioritizing Hydration: In warmer weather, your primary cooling mechanism is sweating, which leads to significant fluid loss. Your brain prioritizes hydration and thirst over hunger, and the extra liquids consumed to prevent dehydration fill your stomach.

  • Slower Stomach Emptying: Heat stress can cause your stomach to empty more slowly, keeping you feeling fuller for longer. The gut then signals the brain to tell it you are full.

One might well be off food in this hot weather,

  • but it certainly wakes my cock and balls up and I seem hungry

  • ALL THE TIME - for some

He has been around the block and if you don't like it,

and if you think he gives a fuck

He has no time for twinks and their fucked up ego -

No time for Divas who are so precious -

You make, and take, from the news that which you wish to see and hear. You observe what you want and comment of things that affect you personally. If you don't like something, do not read it and move on but do not shy away from what IS going on in the world of which - you are a part. World news is so easy to find these days and differing opinions not hard to find. Having an opinion is vital and being a ' don't care' person helps no one. So open your mind - open your heart - open your awareness and ALWAYS be open to new ideas.
