Star Trek TNG

I have been a scifi fan since I can remember and while I discovered Dr. Who when I was 8 years of age ( being first aired on the BBC on November 23, 1963, ) The inaugural episode, titled "An Unearthly Child," featured William Hartnell as the First Doctor and introduced the TARDIS.IS

Star Trek was first broadcast on July 12, 1969, when it was shown on the BBC One television network, coinciding with the Apollo 11 mission to land the first humans on the Moon. Through broadcast syndication, it became an international success in the 1970s, achieving cult classic status and a developing influence on popular culture.

Star Trek eventually spawned a media franchise consisting of 13 television series, 14 feature films, and numerous books, games, and toys, and is now widely considered one of the most popular and influential television series of all time.

I loved Kirk and Spock and all the appalling special effects which were seen as superb back in the day - but it was not for some years later that I TRULY got onto Star Trek as an adult with the advent in 1990 of -

'STAR TREK THE NEXT GENERATION '

Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG) was first broadcast in the UK on September 26, 1990, when BBC Two aired the feature-length pilot episode, "Encounter at Farpoint." and I was a fan right from the start.

Captain Picard - William Ryker - Doctor Krusher and the wonderful Dianna Troy - and I so fell in love with the individual characters and story lines.

Over the years, like any soap opera be it Emmerdale, Corrie or even East Benders, the audiance gets drawn into the family dynamics of the story line and watch to see how it progresses, evolves and nurtures, as in life, and the only difference is that this is set in space offering a futuristic view of a world with no poverty, no money ( ? ) and it seems an ideal environment.

So why am I now , in 2026 - becoming all emotional over the series based on Captain Picard himself and basically, the whole first two series were his alone and the third series, the last and final series - brought back all the old cast and crew in there old roles again - decades later - and I find it so emotional.

Were people like this when Friends ended...

To see the actors themselves decades older, is one thing that always hits home as we remember them in their prime, young, full of energy - and then it seems suddenly - they are old, slow, put on weight and ' gone off the boil' - and while I believe that every day is a special day - it does sadden.

Anyone interested in a

SCI FI WEEKEND of fun???

You make, and take, from the news that which you wish to see and hear. You observe what you want and comment of things that affect you personally. If you don't like something, do not read it and move on but do not shy away from what IS going on in the world of which - you are a part. World news is so easy to find these days and differing opinions not hard to find. Having an opinion is vital and being a ' don't care' person helps no one. So open your mind - open your heart - open your awareness and ALWAYS be open to new ideas.
