The cost of things.

HAMILTON HALL COSTS - SCROLL DOWN

No way on earth this is going to happen. I dont know where they manufacture, but if they do today in China, they will most probably look for other manufacturing locations in Asia, such as Vietnam. Even China has become too expensive for manufacturing of shoes.

In case you dont know, this is how shoe manufacturing looks:

Sewing of fabric till today is close to impossible to automate. Robots can’t easily handle soft fabric, nor can they sew. Manufacturing of shoes is and will remain for some time predominantly manual labor work.

Whoever thinks, this kind of industry will move back to USA is just dreaming. A NIKE shoe which today costs lets say 150 bucks, is manufactured in Vietnam for may be 5–10 bucks. NIKE shoes manufactured in US would at least cost 5 times of todays shop prices.

On top of that: I absolutely doubt you would even find the workers doing that kind of work.

EDIT: Just in case you doubt. I have seen a modern NIKE factory in Vietnam, one that even tries to automate as much as they can. For example gluing of upper and lower soles can be automated. But still sewing there looks like this. And even forget trying to automate threading of shoelaces.

EDIT 1: I recognized some comments mentioning the big profit margin (10 bucks production, 150 bucks sales in shop). The difference looks huge but in fact, its not: 19% of the final price is VAT (at least in Germany. 30% is labor cost and room rent in the shops where you buy the shoes. 6% profit in those shops. 10% transport and logistics. 10% traders. 12% profit NIKE. You will be seeing a gap of 13%. Surprise: This comes from destruction of shoes. When they get out of fashion (after may be a year), or in online trade the consumer sends them back, they are being destroyed. No fashion brand allows their products to enter a secondary market.

I paid an extra £350 to take my dog on holiday – and regretted it instantly

Story by Nick Duerden

The first time I heard proper howls of discontent coming from my dog was when we took her on holiday. I’d no idea she could sound so upset, or that time away from home, for her, could be quite so unpleasant.

Hamilton Hall allows dogs - so bring your dog with you and for a small fee, we even look after your dog one evening if you want to go out - until midnight, and saves you the worry.

Retailers could only switch to American-made products if the American-made products exist, which in many cases they don’t.

The high tariffs theoretically create an incentive for American companies to invest in establishing American manufacturing facilities, but, at best this would take years to come to fruition and probably won’t happen at all.

Tariffs are a tax on imported products, which automatically raise prices not only for foreign products but also any American products that include imported components and materials, so American-made products could well not be price competitive even with high tariffs in place.

At best it would take years for American-made products to come to market because it takes that long to build the new plant and set up the marketing and distribution of the new products, but it probably won’t happen at all because no company is going to invest because the tariff policies cannot be relied upon to remain in place. Even while Trump remains in office the tariffs go up and down from one week to the next and Trump’s successor would probably reverse the stupid tariffs entirely.

Because I own the venue with no mortgage, it never stops surprising me how many people assume every penny we take - is 100% pure profit.

SO the next time anyone thinks it is money for old rope, that every penny is pure profit, that I am ROLLING in money and that I ' take advantage' of people, think again and please grow up, realise that running any small business these days is fraut with costs and legal requirements that completely sink many business' that have rent or a mortgage to pay on top of everything else. as the costs involved are humungous and is why so many small gay mens hotels have closed. In the years I have been at Hamilton Hall I have seen 12 gay venues open and close here in Bournemuth alone. It is NOT money for nothing and IT IS LONG HOURS AND HARD WORK, as NOTHING comes from NOTHING. I would actually earn more stacking shelves in Tesco with absolutely no worries at all.

Actually, what we’ve all been learning is that Trump, like all bullies, chickens out when somebody says, “Okay, you want fight? Let’s go.”

The thing MAGA types don’t get is that their beloved leader is as ignorant of world economics as they are. All his tariffs have done is to tell the rest of the world — and that’s more than 95 per cent of humanity — that America can no longer be trusted. So we’re all finding ways to work around America and leave it out of our plans.

For Canada, it’s not that difficult: we produce many of the commodities the world needs, like potash, aluminum, uranium, natural gas, oil, lumber, and much more, high-quality goods that we will reliably supply. So we’re making deals with Europe, China, India, Mexico. We’re even getting higher prices than we used to get from the US. We sold cheap to America, because it was a dependable .customer. Well, not anymore. And it’s America that is going to be taught a lesson: high prices and scarcity are the price you pay for electing a mean-spirited doofus.

----------------------------------

If Trump continues down this path of using the military to take over cities, there will eventually be an armed rebellion, yes.

And once he cancels the mid-terms (His ultimate goal), there will CERTAINLY be an armed rebellion.

And once that happens., China will annex Taiwan. Putin will nuke Kviv, and the United States as we knew it will be a footnote in history.

China and India will dominate the global economy from then on.

---------------------------------------

So there you have it - everything has a price and everything costs money to produce. If you do not pay, you do not get, and if we pay too much towards wars, the whole world suffers.

Money is NOT the root of all evil, What men do to acquire money is the root of all evil as money is just bits of paper.
