The Safe Space Alliance

I saw this organisation on twitter and they were asking for donations and as I had never heard of them before, I asked and this was their answer -

Thank you for your email. The Safe Spaces Alliance is a program we run through Visit Gay Long Beach. Visit Gay Long Beach is a 501c3 non-profit LGBTQ+ travel resource dedicated to curating safe, inclusive spaces and events while promoting LGBTQ+ & ally-owned businesses in Long Beach, CA, USA. We started our "You Are Welcome Here" Safe Spaces Alliance campaign after the rainbow lifeguard tower was burned in our city of Long Beach, CA, in March of 2021. We wanted to reassure our LGBTQ+ community and visitors that they're safe and welcome here. The Safe Spaces Alliance's mission is to curate LGBTQ+ safe spaces. Businesses and organizations can show their support for the LGBTQ+ community by displaying a "YOU ARE WELCOME HERE" decal on their storefronts or website. Receiving the LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce Long Beach and the LGBTQ+ Center Long Beach support allowed us to move forward to solidify our campaign as a Long Beach City Initiative. Since then, over 500 businesses, organizations, school principals, teachers, counselors, health care professionals, mental health therapists, social workers, and organizations have taken the Safe Spaces Alliance pledge. We mail our decals free of charge to anyone who registers to join the Safe Spaces Alliance. Our initiative has taken off locally, nationally, and internationally with Jamaica, New Zealand, Canada, and The UK. We intended our campaign to be local, however, we could not deny the pledges coming in from around the globe. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and a mother of a trans person, it is my mission to advocate for all the communities I intersect in. In addition, as an owner of a small business, it's crucial to me that we help guide our community to businesses that value and mutually invest in them, be it emotionally or financially. Lastly, as a small non-profit, donations help us continue this work of curating, and promoting, businesses and organizations as well as printing and distributing our "YOU ARE WELCOME HERE" stickers.
