The ( un ) caring world we have created

( Naturally we assume this is America from the title. Where else would they shackle in chains a criminal - No where in civilised society do we shackle prisoners except the USA and they do this to a 91 year old women is absolutely appalling. Someone in the prison service actually thought it applicable to chain her up like a murderer or serial rapist - this - a 91 year old frail women,. Would they allow this to happen to their Grandmother ? Absolutely appalling behaviour from the authoritiesand sadly, not unusual behaviour coming out of the USA. )

She was arrested for armed robbery.

The judge couldn't believe his eyes.

Helen and her husband George 88 yr old, have been married for 65 years. He suffers from severe heart failure and depends on his medication to survive.

They live on a small pension, counting every dollar. Last month, their supplemental insurance expired: they couldn't pay the premium.

When Helen went to buy her husband's medicines, the bill was no longer $50, as usual, but this time it was $940. She was unable to this much money she could not pay.

So she left empty-handed.

For three days, she watched her husband struggling for life as he could not breathe proper;y..

In despair, she returned to the pharmacy.

While the pharmacist had his back turned, she dropped the medication into her bag.

She didn't even have time to reach the door.

The police arrested her and charged her with theft.

During her arrest, her blood pressure skyrocketed.

She was urgently transferred to the hospital.

The following morning, still wearing her thin blouse, she was taken to court.

"I didn't know what to do anymore," she whispered.

"That's all I have left."

The judge gazed at her — frail, trembling, 91 years old.

He shook his head.

" Remove those chains from her," he ordered.

"She's not a criminal. It's our system that has failed."

The charges were immediately dropped.

The judge ordered that emergency assistance be provided to both of them.

Because sometimes, the crime isn't in the act itself, but in the indifference of a world that leaves the most vulnerable to choose between love and survival.

Samuel comes to this creek every weekend to fish and clear his mind.

He was just baiting his hook when a pickup truck pulled onto the shoulder of the bridge above. He watched as a man stepped out, lifted a concrete block, and hurled it over the rail.

Samuel thought it was just illegal dumping until he saw the poor dog being yanked over the edge with it. The truck sped off, leaving the animal to sink.

Samuel didn't wait. He slid down the muddy embankment and waded chest-deep into the stagnant, freezing water. He kicked around until he felt the concrete, grabbed the chain, and hauled the heavy weight back to the surface with everything he had. He dragged the gasping dog onto the grass and frantically worked the heavy chain off its neck. The pitbull was soaked, covered in swamp mud, and terrified.

But he didn't growl or try to run. He was just grateful. He crawled right into Samuel's lap, pressing his wet body against the man’s chest, shaking violently from the cold.

That’s when the adrenaline faded and the heartbreak hit him. Samuel, a man who usually keeps to himself, just sat in the mud and wept, holding the dog that someone else had tried to drown. His nephew stopped filming to run and get towels from the car. They filed a police report immediately, but the truck had no plates and the driver was never found. But the dog, now named "Chance," doesn't need to worry about that anymore. He went home with Samuel that day, and he sleeps safely at the foot of his bed every night.

One ex-Marine and avid dog lover had seen enough. He walked straight over, fists clenched, and told him:

“Try picking on someone who can fight back.”

Moments later, the abuser lay beaten on his own front lawn.

Police arrived to find the Marine calmly waiting, blood on his knuckles, grinning from ear to ear. He left in handcuffs, but with a smile on his face. The dog is safe with a rescue. The abuser ? He moved out of town and never came back. When asked why he did it, the Marine said simply:“Dogs deserve defenders too.”
