HIDDEN CHARGED ADDED TO UTILITY BILLS TO PAY FOR NUCLEAR EXPANSION PLANS.

ree

I received an e mail today from my electric supplier concerning EXTRA CHARGES to be added to my bill each time to cover the cost of building new nuclear power stations, and why the fuck are we, the people paying for this, when the company that sells gas and electric make BILLIONS in profits ? Below is their e mail.

The "Nuclear RAB Contribution" refers to a levy on UK electricity bills to fund the construction of new nuclear power stations, starting with Sizewell C. Under the Nuclear Regulated Asset Base (nRAB) model, consumers pay a portion of the costs during the construction phase, which begins on November 1, 2025, at a rate of £3.455 per megawatt-hour (MWh). This contribution helps reduce investor risk and aims to lower long-term costs to consumers by generating a stable revenue stream for developers.  ( WTF ?)

How it works

  • Funding construction:

The nRAB model allows consumers to pay for a portion of a nuclear power station's construction costs through a levy on their electricity bills.

  • Reduced risk for investors:

By providing a reliable revenue stream during construction, the nRAB model reduces financial risks for investors and lenders.

  • Lower long-term costs:

This approach helps reduce the accumulation of interest on loans, which can lead to lower electricity prices once the plant becomes operational.

  • Impact on consumers:

The levy will appear on all UK electricity bills, with the Nuclear RAB Supplier Obligation Levy starting on November 1, 2025, at £3.455/MWh.

Who is involved

Benefits

  • Energy stability and security:

The project contributes low-carbon electricity to the grid, enhancing national energy security and reducing reliance on volatile fossil fuel imports.

  • Decarbonisation:

It supports the UK's net zero strategy by contributing to the funding of new nuclear power, a key source of low-carbon electricity.

  • Consumer benefits:

While a charge is applied during construction, the model aims to provide long-term cost benefits for consumers by creating a stable and secure energy supply. ( BULL FUCKING SHIT. )

If I need a new roof on Hamilton Hall I do not charge my customers an extra levy to pay for it, even if claiming it will be beneficial to my customers long term safety.

If any business needs to expand , they do not charge their customers - they pay for it out of their profits.

So why the hell are we all being fucked over - yet again - with more charges made against us to re build the infrastructure that should be paid for by the utility companies themselves and not the customers ???

THIS IS BOLLOCKS and once again, we the public are screwed by the utiity companies and government who are suppose to pay for this as we pay our taxes and maybe, just maybe, if Starmer stopped the boats and putting migrants up in 4 and 5 star accommodation and turned the boats around and sent these migrants packing, we might be able to afford - THROUGH THE MONEY WASTED IN THIS MANNER - to pay for our country to be stable and stop screwing the people to pay for it when waste - absolute financial waste - is the reason we are so broke as a nation.
