The BBC settles with PinkNews after falsely accusing founder of sexual misconduct
The legacy news organization said it “retracts and apologizes unreservedly” for publishing the damning claims.The BBC has reached a “substantial” settlement with the online UK LGBTQ+ outlet PinkNews over allegations the BBC now agrees were “false and defamatory,” including accusations of sexual misconduct and misogyny by the publication’s founder Benjamin Cohen and his husband, Anthony James.
The damning claims from staff members appeared in an online documentary and accompanying article published by the BBC in late December 2024. The BBC has removed both from its website.

A 20-year-old Australian driver has avoided prison after fatally striking Pakistani international student Samia Malik, who was kneeling in the middle of an Adelaide road to pray to Allah! Ashton Friend pleaded guilty to causing death by careless use of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene. On the night of 6 May 2025, around 11 p.m. on North East Road in Hillcrest, CCTV showed Malik, also 20, kneeling on the roadway for about four minutes before the collision. Friend told the court he did not see her and initially thought he had hit a kangaroo. He did not stop. Police identified him about a week later. He was not speeding and was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Judge Anne Barnett sentenced him to one year, three months and 29 days in prison, with an eight-month non-parole period. The sentence was suspended on a two-year good behaviour bond. He also received a 10-year driving ban. The judge cited his remorse, age, and prospects of rehabilitation. No explanation was given in court for why Malik was on the road. She was struck and killed while kneeling in the middle of the street.

The man who lost his life inside a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park has been identified as William Chapman, and these are the first photos of him. Police say William was in his early 20s and described him as a vulnerable. Truly tragic. I send my thoughts and prayers to his family and friends and the tiger was just doing what a tiger does and must not be euthonized. I sat my Mother down one day and had a long heart to heart where I needed to let her know how much I loved her, how much we all loved and cared for her, ad how difficult she had made it for everyone through her difficult manner, and that she was largely responsible for any family squabbles as her manner was always somewhat confrontational- and we had a great conversation, she accepted my viewpoint ( refused to believe it mind you BUT at least I spoke up ) and after she died I at least felt at ease that she didn't die assuming she got away with it or assuming we didn't see and feel and register what she was doing and that we all knew, all the way through the decades, and if nothIng else, she knew we loved her dearly and by speaking up, it brought great closure and relief.
