It's been a terrible week for the entertainment industry, for performers and viewers alike. Right after the world lost Dolly Parton, we lost the great Tim Curry, also at the age of 80.
The British star got his acting start on stage in the West End, starring in the original London production of Hair in 1968. He was a phenomenal performer and went on to become everyone's favorite love-to-hate villain, from Frank-N-Furter in Rocky Horror Picture Show to Rooster Hannigan in Annie to Pennywise the Dancing Clown in It to Long John Silver in Muppet Treasure Island.
I met Tim Curry many years ago and he was a sweet and very gentle man, unasuming and not full of the star arrogance so many have when they become famous.

I saw the RHPS within the fIrst few months of it coming to the stage in London and no -one - NO-ONE in the audiance had a clue what it was about and when I say every person in the theatre had ther jaws in their lap, absolute and complete shock, laughter, wonder, thrills and plenty of OMG ... The impression left on me at 17 was forthright. Re viewing it 25 years later were the audiance is dressed according to charachters in the show, they know and shout out the punch lines - they sing along with the songs and being more like a panto -it was equally as brilliant but there was no shock value, no OMG - just a brillaint panto we all knew and loved.
Personally, I disliked the movie but as I was one of the lucky few who saw it in its orignal form with Tim Curry in it, NOTHING - no movie or re run can ever replace that original showing. Meeting Tim Curry years later was a thrill and to spend an evening alone with him and talk about the RHPS and so forth, was a memory I have always treasured.

Right-wing media outlets — like The New York Post, The Daily Caller, Blaze Media, and The Washington Examiner — are already citing the report to paint trans people and their allies as potentially violent.
