The 2nd Coming is Cancelled.

This event got cancelled some time in the first century. Some Christians didn’t get the notification...
The passage in question says this:
“Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom”
This passage represents a huge challenge to Christians who believe that the return of Jesus Christ is still a future event. As a result Christians ‘apologists’ (whose job it is to explain away difficult Bible passages) have gone to town on this one.
The usual get-out is to say that Jesus is foreshadowing his transfiguration, which is described as happening a few days later:
“After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus” (Matt 17:1–3)
However, there are a number of problems with this. Not least, when you look at the context of Jesus’ words, and what he says immediately before, in verse 27:.
“For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done. Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”
There is no mention of any angels, the Father’s glory, or rewards being handed out in the transfiguration account. So Jesus cannot be referring to that event.
(Also, the transfiguration is not a ‘coming’, as Jesus was already there)
He is clearly not referring to his Resurrection, or Pentecost either.
What did Jesus mean by his statement?
A plain reading suggests that Jesus really believed that his coming in glory would be happening within a few decades at most from the time that he was speaking.
Other things Jesus said, in passages such as Matt 10:23, 24:34 & 26:64 seems to confirm this.
There are several possibilities that explain this obvious problem:
Jesus was mistaken
Jesus was lying
Jesus did come back on the clouds in glory, but we somehow missed it and no-one called Jesus actually said those words.
Shall we discuss the fact that Jesus could have been an amalgamation of many saintly people who came BEFORE JESUS and who walked on the water, raised the dead, healed the sick and did miraculous things and Jesus was NOT the first.

Some of the most UN CHRISTIAN people I have ever met - are Christians.
So many are brain washed from birth and believe all the fairy stories and the miracles and the virgin birth even though, we have absolutely no evidence that ANY OF IT IS REAL - and people have fought for more than a millenium that what they believe is right and that anyone who does not believe is unworthy and therefore - will not go to heaven, and in other words, that says that ONLY Christians are worthy and EVERYONE ELSE - FROM ALL RELIGIONS - WILL GO TO HELL.
What utter bollocks is that ?
You make, and take, from the news that which you wish to see and hear. You observe what you want and comment of things that affect you personally. If you don't like something, do not read it and move on but do not shy away from what IS going on in the world of which - you are a part. World news is so easy to find these days and differing opinions not hard to find. Having an opinion is vital and being a ' don't care' person helps no one. So open your mind - open your heart - open your awareness and ALWAYS be open to new ideas.
