TICK TOCK - TIME PASSES

i SAT IN THE LOUNGE

EWSLETTER FROM HAMIOTON HALL.

I sat there comfortably with my cup of tea and biscuit listening.

Listening to the TICK TOCK of time passing.

TICK TOCK of my Grandfather clock.

It was mid afternoon, it was dead quiet as I sat there except for the passing of my life with every

TICK TOCK.

I remembered that Mondays I did shopping

Tuesday I did the garden.

Wednesday was laundry day.

Thursday was my weekly visit to the sauna.

Friday was shopping for the weekend.

Saturday and Sunday were both stay in, feet up and watch telly for most the day and evening, unless something came up that needed doing, and most weeks, since I retired 4 years ago, had grown into this same routine.

The thing I am most conscious of is the

TICK TOCK TICK TOCK

of the clock announcing more and more - faster and faster - time passing.

I remember the first time I heard this TICK TOCK. I was 4 or 5 years of age visiting my Grandparents and I was fascinated with the swinging pendulam and the rythmic tick tock.

Now over 70 years later and where I inherited the clock, I still watch its pendulum swing hypnotically from side to side as I am aware of the heart beat of the clock going

TICK TOCK. TICK TOCK;- Yet now I am aware that my own inner TICK TOCK is slowly running out of TICK TOCKS as time passes, life wind down and things seem to slow down but for the constant and inevitable

TICK TOCK TICK TOCK

and this will go on long afer my own iner clock has stopped and my TICK TOCK silenced and the Grandfather Clock will live on and its TICK TOCK loved and listened to a whole new family who will also witness the TICK TOCK of time passing , the days, weeks, months and decades pass in what seems like a blink of an eye.

As I sit there contemplating the space between my ears, and realising how the years have gone and the clock is still TICK TOCK TICK TOCK - I remember back to how busy I was throughout those years and how many things I had missed out on, Maybe through work or just not paying attention. Wrapped up in my own dramas to realise others were going through their own drama.

Every Sunday I woud wind the clock and speak to it as if it were an old friend, and week after week, month afer month, year after year and eventually decade after decade, I wound the clock and listened to its rythmic

TICK TOCK that never changed; - The world could be ending - the oceans drying up, aliens invading and the heavens falling and yet - still, my clock will be going

TICK TOCK and will be completely oblivious to the dramas, the world afairs of even global catastrophies and will continue going

TICK TOCK

TIME PASSING

just as long as someone remembers to wind it every week, otherwise, Time stops. The heart stops beating and life comes to a standstill. No motion, No thoughts, No opinions and no dramas.

No sound.

No TICK TOCK.

\Just SILENCE.

Just the sound of your body - your heart beating - the in and out of your breath - the inner mind sounds and no more TICK TOCK.

John Bellamy ---------------

You make, and take, from the news that which you wish to see and hear. You observe what you want and comment of things that affect you personally. If you don't like something, do not read it and move on but do not shy away from what IS going on in the world of which - you are a part. World news is so easy to find these days and differing opinions not hard to find. Having an opinion is vital and being a ' don't care' person helps no one. So open your mind - open your heart - open your awareness and ALWAYS be open to new ideas.
