Tensions rise at a California nudist resort as residents face off against the owners of their home, who have cut off their power because they won't put clothes on.

Nudists at a California resort were left angry after the owners of the property allegedly cut their power because they refused to clothe themselves. It’s the latest development in a feud between the owners and residents of the nudist refuge, Olive Dell Ranch near Riverside.
While the ranch has been known as a place where clotheless people congregate since 1952, the owners enacted a “textile” policy months ago, attempting to force residents to put on clothes in public areas. As a result, the residents sued the owners, alleging a violation of their civil rights.

Now that the electricity has been turned off, the group's attorney, Frances Campbell, told The California Post that the owners “are actually threatening the lives of my clients”, especially as many of them are seniors or are disabled.
People in the ranch are now unable to get hot water, and others can’t properly operate needed medical equipment, according to ABC 7. Jim Cramer, one of the people staying at the resort, claims he’s never missed a payment and is supposed to have a pacemaker monitored by a hospital, which is difficult to do when the power is cut off.
“I haven’t been sleeping very well at all or very much,” Penny Ogg, who lives there with her partner Nancy, told The New York Post, “I need a nebulizer to breathe because I have asthma and allergies, and I can’t use that because [that’s electricity].”
The ranch acquired new owners in 2019
However, it sounds like the group won’t have to wait long for things to change, as the health department recently visited the property and allegedly told the owners they needed to have the power turned back on soon.
According to Chevy Nelson, a resident nudist, they should have power restored within the next 30 days.
“What she (the owner) didn’t realize is that as the type of community that we are in, the culture we are in. We’re incredibly united. We look out for our neighbors,” he added.
The owners have been ordered to turn the power back on for the residents, citing health concerns.

The owners bought the property in 2019 but have been accused of letting it go ever since, while the residents have been footing the bill to keep it running. As a result, the pool has been left to turn green, community events were canceled, and their water system was neglected, forcing residents to drink from water points.
Before the new owners took over, the ranch was something of a paradise.
“People would be lying around enjoying the sun and the restaurant. If you’re in the jacuzzi, bubbling, and you ordered a meal, they would bring it to you,” said Penny Ogg.
Meanwhile, the attorney who represents the nudists considers their preference for being naked to be a protected characteristic.
“The reason it’s against the law is the Civil Rights Act prohibits any business from discriminating against anyone based on their characteristics,” she told ABC 7.
The group is now seeking millions in damages from the alleged neglectful owners of the ranch, accusing them of breach of contract, negligence, elder abuse, civil rights violations, and other things.

Such a shame when an environment of joy and harmony is ruined by new owners who simply 'don't get it' or have a hidden agenda for the venue and want these people off site. When you take over an existing and succesful business, you build on what you have got and improve, extend, and excite those regulars to want to stay and enjoy the im[rovements - but when you act n this manner, turning your backs on people who habe stayed there for decades, it comes over as a deliberate excuse to destroy so they can rebuild what they want - and clearly naked prople is not for them... so why buy a naturist venue in the first place.
