Ordered by US commanders to segregate their pubs during WWII, many British landlords responded with a shocking sign: "Black Troops Only"—effectively banning white Americans instead.
At the time, the United States military was strictly segregated. White American commanders expected British pubs, dance halls, and cinemas to enforce these racial divides. However, Britain had no legal framework for segregation. While the UK was not free of prejudice, the overt, institutionalized hostility demanded by American officers shocked many civilians.
British locals frequently sided with Black American GIs, who were often perceived by rural English communities as more polite and less boastful than their white counterparts. When white US military police (MPs) tried to segregate local establishments by demanding landlords bar Black soldiers, many British publicans pushed back to keep the peace and support the troops they preferred.
This simmering tension boiled over into several physical confrontations, the most famous being the Battle of Bamber Bridge in June 1943. In the small Lancashire village of Bamber Bridge, locals amicably shared their local pub, Ye Olde Hob Inn, with Black soldiers from the 1511th Quartermaster Truck Regiment. When white US MPs entered the pub and attempted to arrest a Black soldier over a minor uniform violation, British locals and off-duty British service personnel verbally defended the Black troops and challenged the MPs.
The altercation quickly escalated outside the pub. Later that night, rumors of MP violence caused the situation to erupt into a multi-hour shootout between Black soldiers and white MPs through the village streets, resulting in one death and several injuries.
To prevent further bloodshed across the country, the US military ultimately had to compromise. Commanders instituted an alternating pass system, where Black and white troops were allowed into local towns on different nights. The wartime clash left a lasting historical footprint, highlighting a profound cultural disconnect between the two allied nations regarding race and civil rights.

America is proud of its racist past and proud of its bigotry and proud to push its ideology on anyone and everyone as they actually think they are right, when most of the world knows thay are a bigoted, racist bully - nothing else, just a global white suprimist bully.
As stated above, locals found the Americans to be so full of themselves and incredibly condescending and patronising that they were disliked - while the black soldiers, were polite and thoughtful and NOT arrogant and full of their own self importance and were accepted openly by many Brits who had not even seen a black man before. The Brits, you have to pat them on the back, as we showed the USA long before segregation was stopped in the USA, that black people are equal to whites but this is STILL a battle fought in the US- where Black Lives Matter started because of police abuse towards black communities . The fight in America is still a major fight and with Trump being and promoting white supremacy - it could still turn ugly.
Oh Dear God.... I gather English is not your first language. To be a felon one must be convicted of a felony. Barack Obama hasn’t been charged much less convicted of a felony. Barack Obama is NOT a felon. A felon is not certified. There is no such thing as a certified or un-certified felon. There are just Felons, people convicted of felonies. Trump has been convicted of felonies. Trump is a felon, a criminal, in addition there are tons of additional charges waiting for him when he is no longer president.
Trump is a felon. Obama is not.
