I remember my first visit to Hamilton Hall well, over 15 years ago. When I first booked I had this brave, rebellious idea: “I’m going to a clothing-optional place—I’ll let it all hang out with other naked guys”

Yeah. About that.

JB: This is not THE Jason - but - THE Jason.

I got there, saw guys wandering around naked, entirely comfortable, others fully clothed, some just partially clothed, and I immediately chickened out. I spent my entire first visit dressed like I was expecting snow. T-shirt, shorts, socks. I think I even tightened my belt for extra security.

But no one cared. Honestly, they were all too busy being perfectly chilled out —reading, chatting, eating communal meals, lounging around naked or clothed like it was the most normal thing in the world. Which it was. For them.

So I came back. Again. And again (and now several times a year, each year ). I started to think, “Maybe these guys are onto something. Maybe my clothes should come off.”

Eventually, I decided to give it a go. I took a deep breath, dropped my trousers, striped off and prepared for gasps of horror. Spoiler: no one noticed. Or if they did, they just didn’t mention it. And honestly, it was the most liberating experience ever.

Now? I’m naked from the moment I arrive. Why bother with clothes when you can have full ventilation, especially in this heat

I love it at Hamilton Hall. A guaranteed warm welcome from John & the team, Communal eating feels like a family dinner. Sharing a room is a bonding experience - just hope no one snores too loud . Evenings are spent playing games (where you can’t hide extra cards in your sleeves, obviously) or watching TV together, most likely in the buff for some guests. Sometimes we even venture out for drinks - fully clothed, unfortunately (Bournemouth isn’t that liberated).

It’s honestly the happiest, most welcoming place I’ve stayed at, which is why I come back time after time. A judgement-free zone where you can be naked or clothed without shame, engage with other guests or chill out with a book in peace, laugh with new friends, take lazy beach walks, and truly be yourself—warts, tan lines, and all.

There’s still another month of the “naked summer months” left, if you’ve been wondering should I give it a go - it’s a massive yes from me. The weathers great, Johns got some fab deals on, you’ll be guaranteed a relaxing break, possibly the best weather of the year - go on, give it a try.
