THIS BOY !

A couple of weeks ago, I was feeling emotional, and Carson walked in and asked what was wrong. I read him a Facebook post about a mother of a 16-year-old girl with special needs who was looking for a date for her daughter’s school prom.
Without hesitation, he said, “Mom, I’ll do it!”
And he did. The day before the prom, we visited Izzie to decorate her room and let her meet Carson. Then, he took her to prom, where she was crowned Duchess. Afterward, he spent over an hour in her room just watching cartoons with her. This boy has such a tender heart!
Izzie is a sweet girl—she’s non-verbal, uses a wheelchair, has a feeding tube, and doesn’t communicate much. But there were a few special moments when her eyes met Carson’s, and she lit up like fireworks on the 4th of July. And so did he.
We are all much more alike than we are different. In a world full of choices, choose kindness.
Just a little story about a boy I am so proud to call my son. He inspires me to be better and do better every day.

Like most actors of the day, the cast of Gilligan's Island were each paid a certain amount of money per episode, plus payment for the first five repeats, so their income from the show ended nearly 50 years ago.
But one member of the cast thought that the show was better than that... Dawn Wells, who played Mary Anne, made sure her contract gave her a small royalty no matter how long the show repeated. The studio didn't care, because even they didn't think it would be repeated.
She was right-- nobody ever got tired of the show. It has been running continuously for more than 50 years, and her royalties have added up to tens of millions of dollars.-----

Keeping Up Appearances icon Patricia Routledge's poignant end of life confession
Story by Rebecca Jones
British acting royalty Patricia Routledge, who is perhaps best known for playing Hyacinth Bucket in the BBC sitcomKeeping Up Appearances, has reflected deeply on her life over the decades in a heartfelt podcast interview.
The timeless appeal of Dick Van Dyke
Remarkably, beloved entertainer Dick Van Dyke's career has spanned over seven decades. The actor and comedian cut his teeth in radio in the late 1940s, and by the following decade he was working in theater and television. But it was in the hit 1960's TV series 'The Dick Van Dyke Show' that he truly came to prominence. Movies followed, notably 1964's 'Mary Poppins' and 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,' in 1968. Dick Van Dyke has remained an A-list celebrity ever since, and is still entertaining us.
FREDDIE MERCURY
“Freddie came to me looking a little nervous; ‘Mum, I’m not quite sure how to tell you this but I’m not going to be Farrokh Bulsara anymore. From this day on, I’m going to be known as Freddie Mercury, but I want you to know that this is the name I’ll have on stage, and back home, I will be the boy you always knew. Are you okay with this?’ “And I said to him, as long as you love me and respect me, everything will be alright.” He said, ‘That will always be mum!’

I often told him I didn’t like his clothes and dresses, and tried to get him to cut his hair, but he would explain it was something you have to do when you are in the pop world and gradually I learnt to accept it.
Whatever he did or wore I always saw in him the same child I knew, he would tell us lots of jokes and I could always connect with him.
Freddie kept a strict division between his work and his home all his life. If I ever asked he would say, 'Mum that is business, and this is family.’ He was kind and very respectful both to myself and his father.
We tried to instil good values into him, like respecting the family and giving 100 per cent to whatever he did and although he wasn’t religious, he respected our ways”.--------
