The dirty homeless man with a shaggy beard had a surprise for me.

tHERE WAS SOMETHINGREALLY QUITE UNNATRACTIVE ABOUT HIM. CAN'T PUT MY FINGER ON IT BUT - THERE WAS
There was something really quite off putting about him. Could not quite put my figer on it but there was something that - for some reason or another = people avoided him, kept their distance and gossipped behind his back while - in fact - no one even knew his name.
He was a street hobo - a homeless man - which was exactly what he was - with his long shaggy beard and long hair - very greasy and upkept. His clothing hid a body of - goodness knows what - as he sat there outside Aldi begging for money. Tanned and tattoed - but as I walked past him the first time we caught eye to eye and there was - for me at least - a spark of some kind within.
I couldn't shake him out of my mind while I did a £200 shop - and for Aldi - that meant 2 trolleys full. As I staggered out with the first trolley he saw me struggling and came straight over to help. Others got out of his way with looks of distain on their faces, but he came right up and said ' Do you need a hand there Sir.' as he grabbed one of the trolleys and added ' Yours is the blue Ford - right ?' It all happened so quickly - and as I splutterd ' Er - Yes - Thanks - Yes its the blue Ford.' and off he went with one trolley as I followed behind with the other.
He helped me put all the shopping in the car and we chatted as we did, asking him why he was homeless, where he spent his days, ( besides outside Aldi ) and nights and how come he was in this space. He answered honestly that he had come out of an abusive relationship where he was living for 12 years and was suddenly replaced with what he called ' a younger model' and he was out on his ear - lost his job because of the upset, and ended up in B&B and then - homeless when the money ran out. Said he had been homeless for 9 months and looked forward to a propper bath and to sleep in a propper bed.
The dthing was, he was very well spoken and educated - just down on his luck and where no one was willing to help.
I know what you are thinking and I know - I know - as I've heard the stories before - BUT - I gave him my card and said if he ever needed a shower and a hot meal, I was home evenings after 5 every day and all weekends... and as I went to leave he spoke again
'You need any help putting all this shopping away, you have got rather a lot of it.'
So me being me and never listening to friends, invited him into the car- to home - to help putting the food stocks away - and eventually to offering him a shower and some lunch after and the sounds coming from the bathroom of pure joy - did make me smile. When you shower every day, you take it so for granted, but for him, this was a luxury we take for granted.
I also have tons of cothes I don't wear and sorted him out some clean clothes and did state that he is welcome and not to be embarrassed - and he was as pleased as punch, his boroad smile was all I needed - he was so sweet in his acceptance.
All I can say was OH MY GOD - WHAT A BOD. He left the bathroom after almost an hour, and smiling all over his face - while under the layers of dirty clothes and beard and hair and - while it was a general mess, he came out of the shower having trimmed his beard and hair - and - - OH MY GOD - there stood in nothing but a bath towel , was one of the most handsome - stunning men I think I had ever seen and it quite took my breath away.
'What on God's Earth is someone with your looks and body doing homeless...?'
'It comes to anyone at any time.' - he replied, ' I never thought it would come down to this for me, but it did and it has and all I can do is be the best I can and hope something comes along to help. I'm a hard worker - always have been - but when homeless, its hard to start again. I had a breakdown - couldnt cope and now everyone labels me as having mental health-'
and they avoid rather than giving me a chance.
Well I am sure you can guess what is coming.. He was / is straight but the expression GAY FOR PAY certainly is true, and we ' coupled' several times that night as he was horny as fuck and was willing to do almost anything ( for a Mars bar - no - that's a joke... ) but he really was willing and very able to let himelf relax, be his old person again, and feel ' normal' for a change. He was such a sweet man.
We had a few beers, chatted about life, death and everything and he was really interesting to chat with. I did speak up about how risky this was for me and how so many people warned me never to do this as I have been burned in the past, but there was something - can't quite put my finger on it - in his eyes, that just dragged me in like a fish on a line.
This was just at the beginning of summer and he is still homeless but comes round every weekend for ' sleep over' and shower - food time - and I absolutely look forward to him coming over and he pays me sexually, and he seems so okay with that and has even shown affection towards me. and you know what - I trust him wholeheattedly, which I cannot ever think to say about some of the others I have helped.
I'll keep you informed as to where this is going.
