Michael Jackson gets the last laugh.
In 2005, rapper Eminem decided to take a swipe at the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, and he certainly didn't expect the response he would receive
Instead of responding with another diss track, Jackson pulled a master move: he bought Eminem's entire music catalog for a whopping $370 million. This meant that every time Eminem performed one of his songs, he was forced to pay royalties to Jackson.
In addition to Eminem's catalog, Jackson also owned the rights to legendary artists such as The Beatles Little Richard and some Freddie Mercury songs. He had essentially become the master of the music industry.
As some would say, "there's a reason they say this guy was the industry." Jackson's move demonstrated not only his financial power, but also his strategic intelligence.
Despite Eminem's taunts, Jackson managed to turn the tables in his favor, earning huge sums of money and establishing his dominance in the music industry.
Jackson does on June 25, 2009 aged 50.
