Over the last 23 years here at Hamilton Hall we have hosted a myriad of events and here is a list of some of them.

Many are hosted and facilitated ' In House' - usually by myself - while others rent the venue to put on their own workshop / seminar and we just offer the accommodation and catering.

It has been an amazing and adventurous journey for me over the years and for whoever worked with me at the time - always offering the kind of service rarely found in bland corporate boring venues with no soul, and many small individual venues also seem to lack any form of soul or atmosphere, while Hamilton Hall oooozes all of that and more.

Many outside organisations have used us, but most of what we have offered has been ' in house' - as detailed below.

There are always the jealous resentful ones out there

While the vast majority appreciate and value

and have kept us open and busy since March 30th 2000

So - More than 23 years and all under the guidance and support from the owner

and host of most of the in house events John Bellamy

No one has offered more - PERIOD

The one and only

We have always tried to offer Hamilton Hall for local gay groups to use as a base - and sadly as so many warned me about prior - too many take advantage, offer us attitude and act in an obnoxious - unenlightened manner towards us and we pull away and just do our own thing. It seems that many gay organisations and groups do not support each others groups and fight amongst themselves as to who is more important - and there is far too much ego involved - and it betrays the very aspect of helping when all you are doing is helping yourself. AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE .

SO WHAT CHANGES ARE WE MAKING AT HAMILTON HALL ?

I was 45 when I came here. I am now 68.

Despite having cancer and all sorts of ailments. I am still going strong BUT I do not want to be facilitating 18 hour days - ending up being exhausted hosting some of the events listed and until further notice, or until someone else wishes to take up the mantle and even use our facilities, I am stopping the items listed below

Man 2 Man - Gay Mens Tantra Workshop - for which we were the countries leading venue for MANY years Full Body Massage Workshop - the only venue teaching men such a workshop for over 15 years

Indian Head Massage Tuition

Red Weekends - we introduced this 15 years ago and were a first with all accommodation and tuition etc.

Karaoke nights

and at times we will offer some of those listed in dark yellow above as they are less work for me and easier on my soul. Watch the Diary of Events for details.

All the various weekends that do not need me to teach all day as well as cook and run the venue and end each weekend exhausted - as at my age, I want to step back a little and enjoy a little time for me, which was great during lockdown.

I don't get paid. I have had one holiday in 15 years. I donate my time, my effort, my energy and my emotions to everything I have offered and it is exhausting, especially when we get so much abuse from tossers who think the world owes them something for free and there will always be the resenters, and I appreciate I live the lifestyle many of you can only dream of. BUT - the vast majority of people absolutely love what we do and we have around a 85% repeat clientele with many coming since we first opened.

Hamilton Hall is still here as always - Still offering our lovely B&B - Home cooked dinners - and so much more and open all year. I am still here as always to chat and giggle and bark and lecture and preach and - well whatever it is I do around here - and we are business as usual, just a few less items on the Diary of Events.

Some other venue is bound to pick up where we left off and always remember, Hamilton Hall was here first - by some two decades plus -and NO VENUE BEFORE US EVER OFFERED SUCH AN ARRAY OF EVENTS, WORKSHOPS, SEMINARS AND FUN THINGS to enlighten, shock, amuse and educate and all within a truly delightful - residential - hotel retreat owned and operated exclusively for men.

There simply has never been -

and never will be in the future -

anywhere like Hamilton Hall.

Dear John: I came to stay with you right back in August 2000 after you had just opened and have been visiting - off and on - every year since and have seen Hamilton Hall grow and evolve to be - as you call it - One of a Kind. I feel privileged to have stayed there and privileged to have known you. Other than Covid, I hadn't missed a year. I shall return again soon. JS

I stayed with you many times before I had my stroke. It has set me back and I doubt I shall ever visit again. I carry many happy memories of Hamilton Hall with me and always smile when I think of you John. I so admire your balls. To take on the gay crowd and put up with the appalling attitudes available from some queens, takes a strong man . Still going strong after 23 years must be a first for any gay venue. Well done John. You are in my thoughts.

Dear Sir: Wanted to e mail and let you know my partner died some time ago and I am now getting around to writing to those who held a special place in his heart, and you John Bellamy were one of those people. Geoff ( surname withheld ) visited many times over the last 10 years of his life and even though HIV+ and with a multitude of ailments, it was Covid that got him and he died late in 2022. He spoke about you a lot and said you were the maddest man he had met besides himself ( he was barking in the nicest possible way ) and he always told me what a laugh you were and how kind towards him you were. I thank you for that as he was a difficult man and most turned away - while you took him on as a friend and he ( and myself ) truly valued that. Thanks John Bellamy - you will always remain in my heart. Douglas

Sorry but since my hip, I have not been going anywhere but I still remember with great affection sitting chatting with you in your own space and the help you freely offered.
